I'd have to pretty much agree with Amazon's appraisal on this one. Travis has always had a bit of a split personality on his albums, but somehow it seems more obvious here. On the one hand, we have the "I'm so macho" Travis on tracks like "Rough Around the Edges" & "Tougher Than the Rest" (the latter written by Springsteen & actually a pretty nice mid-tempo tune despite the phony bravado). On the other hand, we have the "I'm really just a softy" Travis on ballads like "If I Lost You", "For You" (downright dreary & depressing), & "I'm All the Man". "Rough Around the Edges" & "Girls Like That" basically sound like recyclings of songs like "T-R-O-U-B-L-E" & "Bible Belt" from his previous albums. It seems that when he runs out of ideas, he resorts to this type of tune. "Mission of Love" is a standard traditional-style country ballad with a modern theme, but he does a nice job on it. Far and away the best track on the album is his cover of the great Jude Cole blues-rocker "Start the Car". A great choice for Travis to cover.
Travis had a great string of albums to kick off his career, but somehow this one doesn't measure up. The formula's starting to sound a bit tired.

He just keeps moving your feet and touching your heart

This is not his strongest album, but it's very, very good. The love ballads are enjoyable, particularly "The Road to You." Worth the money just for the title song that deals with the liberating power of forgiveness.

A must for true Travis Tritt fans

If you like the upbeat Sound of Southern Rock and Country with a mix of power ballads this album is for you. This album contains the classic "Start The Car" which was redone great by Travis. If you like rebel music you'll like "Girls Like That", "No More Looking Over My Shoulder", "Tougher Than The Rest" and "Rough Around The Edges". For Your Ballads there's "If I Lost You", "For You", And "All The Man". Great CD, He Just Keeps Doing It. Very Addictive!

One of the things that makes Travis Tritt such a great singer is his versatility. He can sing traditional country, blues, ballads, and boy can he rock! This album has some great ballads on it: Mission of Love, If I Lost You, For You. Travis also goes back to the hard rocking style of his earlier albums. The Jules Cole cover of Start the Car is fantastic, as is Tougher than the Rest, Rough Around the Edges, and Girls Like That. I judge an album by how many times I can listen to it, and how few tracks I skip over. I am not going to get tired of this album!

Travis just keeps getting better. The singer,songwriter,and showman gives his all in every facet of the business .

Five stars from me. First Travis Tritt CD I have purchased. Been on the trail too long "pardners" - if you didn't care for this one.

"NO MORE LOOKING OVER MY SHOULDER" CD by Travis Tritt is sensational. Travis Tritt is a a GREAT talent. What a voice!!!! The songs are SO GOOD and SO GREAT, and the singing is TERRIFIC.

This cd is right up there with all of Travis' others. He can sing rockabilly like no one else can. I have all of his previous cd's and can't wait for the next one!
