Joy Can Come In the Morning, Regardless of What Day Of The Week It Is, April 27, 2010
This review is from: No More Sunday Mornings: A Blackwell Legacy (Paperback)
When you are raised around the teachings of God's Word and those who believe it, you sometimes think that means you are immuned from the problems that others face. It's not until something happens to shatter your beliefs that you realize that you never took to the lessons yourself.
That is what I got from the family presented to us in Cheryl Joyner-Clark's NO MORE SUNDAY MORNINGS. On the outside everything looks well put together, but when tragedy and heartbreak strike, the family comes to realize that it's not enough to be around God's goodness. In order to truly benefit from it, you have to let it inside.
There are lessons in this book that all of us can glean something from, and I look forward to learning more about the characters through other work by this talented wordsmith.

Redemption, April 15, 2010
This review is from: No More Sunday Mornings: A Blackwell Legacy (Paperback)
No More Sunday Mornings by Cheryl Joyner-Clark takes the reader on a deep journey into the Blackwell family and how they lost their faith in God. Raising three kids alone, Ruth set out to bring her children as close to perfection as possible. To her God was everything and with him you can do anything. The Blackwell children were faced with a crisis and when they called out for God's help they felt he turned his back on them. Left to their own devices each sought to forget about Sunday mornings.
Church became the devil himself where they were concerned; shamed, shunned and disappointed they all lost hope, faith and trust in God. What can turn their hearts around? Each Blackwell child goes through their own revelation and heeds his call to come home.
Heart-wrenching, soul cleansing and tear-filled are just a few words to describe this wonderful work. Mrs. Joyner-Clarks' message was received loud and clear and motivated me to get up this past Sunday and go to church. I was in need of the word, some prayers and the overwhelming presence that I received when I showed up made me glad that I did. I personally want to thank Mrs. Joyner-Clark; she has my full attention and I look forward to reading more work from her soon.
I appreciated this book and have passed it along to one of my friends who was also in need of intervention. I would like to recommend that Mrs. Joyner-Clark seek additional proofreading help to make this book read smoothly. In summary, this was a very enlightening read and I recommend it to everyone.
I received this book for review courtesy of the author.
