5.0 out of 5 stars The Most Complete Ozzy Experience, January 31, 2012
This review is from: No More Tears (Audio CD)
Ten years after Ozzy's impressive debut with Randy Rhoads on Blizzard of Oz, Ozzy was at a crossroads both personally and professionally. After Jake E. Lee left the band at the end of The Ultimate Sin Tour in late 87' Ozzy was left hanging without his superstar sidekick. After many try-outs with various guitarists, Ozzy found Zakk Wylde, only 21 at the time, to fill Lee's big shoes. Zakk was already a well-respected guitar player when he was in his late teens. He jumped at the chance to help Ozzy continue his successful solo career. Wylde still refers to Ozzy as "The Boss" to this day, a reflection of Wylde's deep respect for Ozzy as a fine muscian. Their first album together, No Rest For The Wicked had moderate success and spawned the single "Crazy Babies". Undaunted, Ozzy returned three years after this album in 1991 with No More Tears. The album clearly displayed much promise, as it quickly went up the charts to become Ozzy's first and only number 1 album. Elevated by such gems as No More Tears, I Don't Want To Change The World, Time After Time, Mama I'm Coming Home, and the mature and experienced The Road To Nowhere, all of which had killer videos and dominated MTV rotation until Metallica's Black Album, Ozzy was a force to be reckoned with. Wylde's playing was inspired and vigorous, bassist Mike Inez(who later replaced Starr in Alice In Chains), threw down impressive chops, as well as Randy Castillo on drums. The band, even though Inez and Wylde were some 20 years Ozzy's junior, developed a great chemistry that was displayed throughout the albums entirety. Ferocious leads with stellar perfomances by Inez and Castillo, and some of Ozzy's best vocals, put this album into the classic category. This album is a must have for Ozzy fans and muscians alike.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tell me I'm a sinner..., November 29, 2010

Ozzy Osbourne entered his second decade as a solo artist and third overall with an undisputed triumph and the multi-platinum selling `No More Tears'. I don't think he's made a better record after the two Randy Rhoads classics than this absolute barnstormed that proved at least temporarily that there was still a market for traditional heavy metal during the grunge era. Without the ridiculously heavy guitar riffing courtesy of Zakk Wylde the record might have been seen as just another hair metal record by an aging artist but Wylde puts those thoughts to shame here. Not that there aren't melodic tunes of the power ballad variety here and they are some of the best that the genre has to offer - "Mama", "Road to Nowhere" and "Time After Time" - all featuring autobiographic lyrics with melancholy and a certain road weariness that suits Ozzy perfectly. The title track is a behemoth, a true epic not seen since the days of `Diary of a Madman'. It's a track that builds and climaxes and then builds again and it could easily be one of the greatest songs from this era. "I Don't Wanna Change the World" and "Mr. Tinkertrain" are classic metal stompers and righteously kick the album off in a flurry of metal insanity. There are as many moods here as songs and `No More Tears' could also be the Oz's most diverse album as well. Whether or not his work over the last twenty years or so has been consistent or overshadowed by the TV show or Sharon's celebrity there is no denying that with the proper cohorts (including Lemmy and future Alice In Chains bassist Mike Inez) Ozzy can make heavy metal of the highest caliber..

5.0 out of 5 stars "No More Tears by Ozzy Osbourne" 4.5 out of 5 stars, almost a perfect album, March 30, 2010

This album came out of no where. I loved No Rest For the Wicked but understood why others thought it was a little weak. Then this gets released and it has just monster hits on it. This was one of the greatest hard rock/metal albums released in its time period. People are in love with his older solo stuff which I understand but this stands right up there with any of them. This is my favorite Ozzy album followed by No Rest For the Wicked.
