I bought No More Yawning for my daughter's 8th birthday. She is a big fan of Paeony Lewis' writing and she had read a previous Florence and Arnold book, No More Cookies, that she had enjoyed and she was anxious to see what Florence and Arnold would do this time around.

This book is full of clever ideas for helping children get to sleep (and full of the ways that children 'get around' those ideas.). We loved seeing which of us could yawn the biggest! And just the word yawn seemed to make us all start yawning. This book on its own could be the book that puts your little one to sleep with all that yawning. And they are sure to love the antics of Florence and Arnold as they try soooo hard to go to sleep.

Katrina loved the illustrations and yawning big.

I originally checked this book out from the library before buying it here. This is a wonderful book that walks through all the innocent things children do that end up extending bedtime for hours - from wanting a story, to asking for a drink of water, to needing a hug. I really like the way it addresses the mother at the end getting frustrated but then talking through with the child different things she can try to fall asleep. There is a deep connection made between the mother and daughter as they gently discuss how falling asleep can be hard and what the mother did when she was a little girl. We first read this to my daughter when she was three and she delighted in all the antics which she could definitely relate to. It is a delightful story and probably one of the top 20 I would recommend for a child's library.

Paeony Lewis' NO MORE YAWNING! tells of Florence and her plush animal who are supposed to go to bed - but the girl and her toy monkey can't possibly go to bed now - there's simply too much to do, what with bedtime stories, lullabies and sheep to count. A fine tale of bedtime rituals emerges.
