Though I have always loved Dionne's voice, I never felt she could perform similar material and make it feel different when they are so close together.
Douglas R. Brown
Love tracks 1,2,3,4,5,6 out of 10 tracks (13, with the additional 3 bonus tracks) and that to me is enough reason to buy any album.

I'm a huge fan of Dionne Warwick. I first fell in love with her voice when I heard "I'll Never Love This Way Again" on the radio. I may only be 25, but I'm a huge fan of tremendous vocalists and Dionne is one of them. Having heard her entire catalog of music, I prefer her Arista years. Her voice was never more powerful or dynamic and she frequently collaborated with some of the best musicians in the business.

"No Night So Long" is one of her best albums. The first time I heard the title track, I knew it was something special. The live version of the song, from "Hot! Live and Otherwise," is even more powerful. There are many wonderful songs on this album. I've always felt that Dionne's version of "It's The Falling In Love" was much better than Michael Jackson's. "Reaching For The Sky" and "Sweetie Pie" are two soulful and upbeat songs that will get you moving. There are plenty of beautiful ballads to be found as well. "How You Once Loved Me" has an incredibly addictive hook that I can't help but sing over and over again. "This Time Is Ours" is a lovely bonus track that was dusted off and brought back for this album's reissue.

This is a very solid Dionne Warwick album. If you are a fan of her voice or just a lover of good music, you can't go wrong with this CD. If Dionne would incorporate some of this music into her live routine, people would remember just how amazing her Arista years really were. She may not have topped the charts as frequently, but she created some beautiful music. Enjoy!

I love this album and just got it in the mail today. I've always wanted it on CD. Why is it some of the best albums haven't been re-issued yet on CD? Thank goodness that is not the case here anymore.
Every track on this album was worthy of being issued as a single. You'll remember every song after first listen...I know I did. The album is crafted very much in the style of it's predecessor 1979's "Dionne" (another great, memorable album) though I prefer this one. A great mix of uptempo, ballads and some updated covers. I'm a huge fan of "We Never Said Goodbye"...if you liked "Deja Vu", I think you'll like this track, too. My favorite track is "Easy Love", the album's opener...it makes for a nice bridge/segue from "Dionne" to this album.
You also get 3 bonus tracks...2 additional tracks produced by the original album's producer, Steve Buckingham & one produced by Michael Masser (whose prolific production work I'm usually a big fan of). The Michael Masser produced track on this album, "This Time Is Ours", is just a bit too generic for me although Dionne hits some good high notes on it. But I don't think even Whitney Houston or Diana Ross (who also have fantastic Michael Masser productions in their catalogs of work) could've saved or elevated this track. It's sung well & produced well but the song itself just isn't anything special. As for the other two bonus tracks...I believe "Dedicate This Heart" may have originally debuted on "Hot, Live & Otherwise" (thought did not appear on that CD's re-release, perhaps because it was licensed for this reissue). It's a nice, up-tempo number. Then there's "Only Heaven Can Wait", a pleasant cover of a Roberta Flack song.
While the bonus tracks are nice, I would've paid the same price just to have the original album alone it's that good. I do, however, appreciate the fantastic liner notes that accompany this re-release. I'm going to hit the repeat button right now on the CD player!

Dionne Warwick is a glorious talent with a career that has spanned decades and many different styles of music. She is also unique for as she matured her voice gained new unique stylish qualities so it seems that as each important part of her career was crossed she had a different unique styling to her voice. Of course I always knew of Dionne Warwick but I am one of those of the generation who was first truly inroduced to her with I'LL NEVER LOVE THIS WAY AGAIN. Her glorious Arista debut with Barry Manilow DIONNE was her first platinum release and a huge Grammy success. So succesful that a follow-up became a concern. How can you top a recording that by many was pure perfection. Luckily when you ahave an artist with the vocal range and emotive delivery of Dionne Warwick and a talent like Clive Davis who was the head of Arista you stretch a little further having full faith in the talent of Ms. Dionne and come up with an album just as great.

NO NIGHT SO LONG is an amazing set from Dionne Warwick and continues the classy, elegant performances from the previous release without being repetitious. The title song was and is an instant classic. I can't listen to it without tears coming to my eyes. And the rest of the songs are stellar. We open with the light and breezy EASY LOVE which sets the mood perfectly. Dionne works magic on the ballads WHEN THE WORLD RUNS OUT OF LOVE and HOW YOU ONCE LOVED ME. Her version of WE HAD THIS TIME is superb. I love her vocal quality at this period of her career. Her voice got a husky undertone without taking away her amazing range and ability to hold long notes. And of course her biggest gift is the emotion with which she tackles all her songs. I also love this cd for the uptempo numbers are in no way dated.
