4.0 out of 5 stars Lots of good tips to stay safe, May 25, 2000
This review is from: No Nuts For Me (Paperback)
This is a great book for those who are looking for a tool to help educate children about this allergy. It covers many of the basics which people with the allergy need to know in order to stay safe, such as carrying Epi-Pens, reading ingredients labels, wearing a Medic Alert bracelet, and no sharing of food with others. The book presents the information well, and flows along in a positive entertaining manner. I have read it to young children and it has also been read to my daughter's kindergarten class, both with great results. The book also may be helpful in building self esteem and confidence in the young allergic reader as they will see the young character living and enjoying a full and active life. He of course explains some of the necessary steps that are made to keep him safe at certain activities such as when he attends a friend's birthday party.

If you are looking for an entertaining way to educate children about nut allergy or even peanut allergy, you should consider this one.

Stay Safe,

Chris@PeanutAllergy.Com

4.0 out of 5 stars Having a Food Allergy is OK, April 4, 2000

"No Nuts For Me" focuses on daily life for a child dealing with a severe nut allergy. The daily routine for the boy in the story is exactly the routine for my child. My 4-year-old could see that she is not alone; this book was a confidence builder for her. I will use this book as a resource for educating my childs public-school kindergarten classmates and administrators about life with food allergies. I was having trouble finding this title -- thank you Amazon for making it available.

5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful little book!, October 29, 2001

This review is from: No Nuts For Me (Paperback)
I bought this for my son when he was recently diagnosed with tree nut and shellfish allergies. He was only five at the time, and I wanted something that would help him understand how his life was going to change.

He loved how he related to the main character, and proudly showed off his MedicAlert bracelet and Epi Pen, as described in the book. He also brought it to school with him, and his teacher read it to the class. It helped them understand the importance of not sharing their food with him, and it also familiarized them with his fanny pack (which contains his Epi Pen) that he wears at all times.

A great purchase!
