Quality that's rare these days,
By Eddie "Alexxus" (Romania) - See all my reviews
This review is from: No One Built This Moment (Audio CD)
It's been quite a while since I last wrote a review here, but this album is so good I had to say something.
This is no dance album. No chillout/trance either. I'm not sure where exactly this fits in, because there are simply not many like it. I suppose it will have to qualify for something like downtempo, but that does not say anything about how suave the music actually is. First listening it seems a tad melancholic and maybe sad, but subsequently I find it's mostly pensive, reflective, in quality, or at least these are the feelings it addresses in me. However, if you do take the trouble to listen to it a few times, you'll gradually find how creative the music is. No catchy tunes, no hooks, just melodies flowing from one into another. Very mellow, very sleek. Fabulous voices, great production, top quality mastering and recording, this is worth every penny and then some.

First of all, I have their other albums and those are awesome. This album is awesome too. The people behind this project are brilliant at what they do. The album starts off strong with an ambient intro track that takes the listener to another world. Then the album picks up with super-nice vocal songs. Calling, Trust in your Love, Stop, Light to Your Life are all shining chill out songs. Not to mention the other songs on the album. Basically, if you are a fan of Buddah Bar, or chill out music in general, then get this album.

Bliss makes you believe in love,
This review is from: No One Built This Moment (Audio CD)
Every music lover knows that one artist that no one else does and are always trying to shove their music down peoples throats. For me, that band is Bliss. I first heard their hit song Kissing on a chill-out compilation ("kissing" holds the record for the most compiled song ever) about 6 years ago and can still remember the first time I heard it. It was like experiencing everything I've ever felt and wanted to feel from love all at once. It was beautiful. Naturally I bought their album Quiet Letters: U.S. Edition and have become a major fan ever since.
Their latest album "No One Built This Moment" is another shining example of the perfection that is Bliss. While many of the songs are largely instrumental, the emotion and beauty is just as present as when vocal goddess Sophie Barker accompanies. Every song is expertly produced in the highest sound quality that is heart stopping on a great surround sound system. While there wasn't a track quite as fantastic as "kissing" I found that track 3 "Trust In Your Love" came really close. It's a breath-taking song about putting your faith in love instead of worrying about losing it. Other highlights included "Calling" "Light to Your Life" and "The Hope". Essentially, however, this is an ALBUM. Unlike most music now days that focus on 1 mp3 wonders, this is designed to be listened to from start to finish. No skips, no fast forwards, no pauses. Every track seems to float into the next, creating 60 minutes of soundscape that you simply won't get from any other chill out artist or compilation. Now I see that this import is $30 and that does sound a little high even for something of this quality, so I really hope they release a US edition as well or are able to lower the price. Honestly, however, it really IS worth it. I can't praise this band enough. The production quality, the vocalists.. it's all perfect. If you have any interest in this kind of music, you will need this CD in your collection.
