A great documentary for music lovers and film lovers alike,

You don't have to be a fan of Cloud Cult's to find this film compelling. It is an emotional documentary that tells the story of a green, idealistic rock band from Minnesota whose leader, Craig Minowa, is arguably the most inventive music writer and performer in his generation. Viewers who do not know Cloud Cult when they view the documentary will walk out fans. For a full discussion of the film, see the Matchflick.com film column for Sunday, April 12.

I already knew I would more than love this film before I purchased it. If anyone is a Cloud Cult fan or wants to introduce friends to the group, watch this. It tells a lot about not only the way the band has changed over the last 10+ years, but also explains what the band is all about. The free five-song EP was nice too!

I'm a big Cloud Cult fan and I enjoy reading about the group. Consequently, when I learned about this film, I ordered it with the hope of learning more than I already knew about the band. What I particularly liked about No One Said It Would Be Easy is that it includes bios of each band member, it has great home-movie footage of their early and more recent tours, and it shows the dedication of each band member, most particularly leader, Craig Minowa, whose creativity and perseverance are the driving force behind this excellent, unique band. The film describes the hard times, the tragic loss of the Minowa's two-year-old child, and the eventual critical success that this band has achieved. The film displays a band made up of individuals with great talent but also great humility and a great thankfulness for the lives they lead. After viewing the film, I have more of a sense of each band member as a personality, and I have more of an appreciation than ever for each one of these terrific creative artists.
