5.0 out of 5 stars Nice, upbeat nu-metal, August 14, 2001
By Hammerlock (Boulder, CO) - See all my reviews
No One is an energetic, slightly hip-hop influenced metal band. This CD is a nice mix of aggressive vocals with nice, if slightly underdone, guitar work. The drummer is very good at what he does, that's one of the best part of this CD, he does some excellent work on "Breathe", "Falling" and "Hype".

The best word to describe a lot of this CD is "upbeat", its not as dark as, say, Coal Chamber or Slipknot, but its certainly worth a listen in its own right. Its kind of a new take on nu-metal, going against the grain a little bit, because there are quite a few nu-metal bands that are going for the gloomier aspect of the music. No One has a little more energetic side to it, while still keeping a lot of the aggression that defines this style of music, and can still be nice and heavy at times.

I know I said it was "hip-hop influenced" above, but that doesn't mean its a rapcore band. The singer does little to no rapping, but even though there is no actual "rap" he still uses a little bit of the rhythmic beat that defines hip-hop, and the beat of several of the songs, most noticably "Chemical" and "Down On Me", has a very rappy feeling to it. But if you hate rap and rapcore, don't pass up this CD, because the hip-hop is not very noticable, and its easy enough to ignore.

This is definitely a great buy, one of the better new bands that are coming out with debut CDs in the next few months, if you're planning on buying some CDs by new artists in the next few months, you can't go wrong with this.

4.0 out of 5 stars Only listened to a few times..., May 23, 2004
I have only listened to this CD maybe 5 times. My opinion is the opinion you will most likely have after just buying the CD. The first track opened, and really rocked. I loved it. After that, the music was still head-bangin' ground-pounding'ly good, but the vocals started to trail off. This band would be defenantly 5 stars if the lyrics and vocals were maybe re-recorded, or thought over a bit more. But with the amazing tunes, this band still will go places. I sure will give their next album another shot to see if they've impoved, once it is released.

5.0 out of 5 stars Textbook Metal, August 16, 2001
By ohnjayjdp "ohnjayjdp" (Columbus, IN United States) - See all my reviews
It's very rare these days that we are able to enjoy a band like No One who produce straight-up heavy metal (emphasis on the word heavy), which is in short supply these days. More often than not, we are treated to the watered-down, formulaic hard rock churned out by bands like Staind, Systematic, Drowning Pool, Stereo Mud, etc. No One's music is heavy, unrelenting metal, with lots of great guitar riffs and very good drumming.

There is nothing special about this CD except that it exists in a dying genre of rock music. However, the songs are all very catchy, and the CD is easy to listen to from beginning to end. This is why I would recommend this CD. Stand out songs include Chemical, Falling, Hype, It's Real.

Similar bands (whom I would also strongly recommend) are Dry Kill Logic, Ill Nino, Anyone, Facroy 81, and (my personal fav.) Nothing face.

If you don't listen to metal music, you probably shouldn't give reviews on no one. This is a must have for people who like the "nu" metal sound.
