A friend overseas recommended this album to me and I'm so glad he did.Ephrat are from Israel and this is their debut. The influence of Steven Wilson is obvious here,he mixed the album, if you like Porcupine Tree you'll love this. I've been a fan of prog rock for years and this is at the pinnacle of the genre, I think I hear shades of Deep Purple in here, along with BS&T's,there are Genesis like chord changes,(from when Genesis made real music )some really nice metal guitar and kick bass drum, ELP would be proud of some of the keyboard work...I could go on .
I'm a lyric freak yet the lyrics here are really secondary(I couldn't tell you one line from memory ) because the music is so good, nice and heavy. This band deserves much more recognition. There isn't a bum track on this and I can't get it off the stereo.

Here is an album that is very hard to classify. Parts of it rock hard, others are soft and melodic, parts are goth-like. Overall, it's really eclectic - which isn't always a good thing. In this case the result is very interesting and very listenable!

I liked it the first time I heard it, but find myself being drawn into it more and more with each listen. It is anything but boring. This is not the kind of music most people would want to dance to. It is the kind that you just want to kick back and really listen to. At time, I am reminded of Persephone's Dream or Paatos (when the lovely female vocals are forefront). But, being eclectic, she doesn't sing on all the tracks and we get the occasional male voice and he has a nice voice too.

Just to give another reference about other groups I would compare them to, Seven Steps to the Green Door comes to mind - another excellent and eclectic group.

If you are into Prog-Rock, then getting this will probably make you feel very happy and satisfied!

This is very sincerely my favorite CD released in the past several years. The lyrics, the music, and the movement within this album is top notch if you like the prog metal genre. This is definitely one of those bands that take a couple of runs through the player before you begin to get it but this album gets better and better the more you listen to it. It stops you in your tracks sometimes. It's all of the best components of progressive rock. It's worth your time to roll this through a couple of times. You won't be disappointed.

These guys are good. Very good! Very much in the vein of Dream Theater. If you like Dream Theater, you will like Ephrat, period. Named after master guitarist, keyboard and flute player Omar Ephrat. Don't let the flute scare you. You hardly ever hear it. What you do hear is stellar guitar work from Omar. The song structure and length are also very comparable to Dream Theater. I hate to do a one to one comparison with DT but that is the band they seem to closely emulate. No soft prog here. It is heavy, leaning toward metal. I saw one comparison the Genesis. No way! Nothing that subtle or symphonic here. Just hard straight on heavy prog. You'll love 'em.
