Editorial Reviews

Fifteen-year-old Jordan Pruitt has the power to reverse charges of fogyism in households across America: The songs on No Ordinary Girl skew heavily teen-ward (check song titles like "Miss Popularity" and "Who Likes Who"), but whether you wear bifocals or a retainer, she'll reel you in--before you know it you, too, could be singing about how you want a cellphone and the keys to the Mercedes (see "Teenager"). Pruitt made a name for herself prior to No Ordinary Girl with two singles; "Outside Looking In" and "Jump to the Rhythm," both included here, burned up the original soundtracks to two Disney Channel movies. What separates her from the mouse-ears-wearing pack, though, is genuine promise. Pruitt's is a stylish voice--creamy and sweet and a little quirky. It serves her exceptionally well on these featherweight songs, not one of which won't be relatable to anyone who has ever sought refuge from the horrors of high school in a pop song. More important, it's suited for weightier material--MySpace subscribers may claim Pruitt as their talented mascot for now, but don't be surprised if she's belting anthems for minivan drivers a few albums down the line. --Tammy La Gorce

Product Description

Jordan Pruitt is a monumentally talented singer/songwriter with a maturity far beyond her 15 years. As her Hollywood Records debut CD No Ordinary Girl shows, Jordan has the chops to command the youth audience of today and for many tomorrows to come. Produced by Keith Thomas (Nick Lachey, Whitney Houston, Amy Grant), the new CD was co-written largely by Jordan, and naturally reflects the world as seen through a bright-eyed fun-loving teen. Yet, true artist that she is, Jordan manages to bring out the universal in every song. Featuring the singles and videos 'Outside Looking In,' 'We Are Family' and 'Jump To The Rhythm'.

4.0 out of 5 stars Safe Teen Themes, Cool Album February 8, 2007
Format:Audio CD
It's kind of hard to keep up with all the new young singers on the scene. Okay, well here is the back story on Jordan Pruitt. She wasn't a part of the recent High School Musical Tour-but she did open on the tour. She is signed to Hollywood Records, a company which releases a lot of Disney related albums. Whereas a lot of the "new school" girls are going for a pop/R&B edge, Jordan seems to walk the line of rock and pop.

No Ordinary Girl is a very tween/teen oriented album. The song themes are perfect for the high school scene. Songs like "Miss Popularity" and "Teenager" are sure to resonate with the teen scene. "Over It" is sure to be a popular break up song.

4.0 out of 5 stars Appropriate -harmless, teenage pop. February 10, 2007
By Pam
Format:Audio CD
I don't mind my children listening to this album. It's harmless pop, and Jordan is a talented young lady, I think her voice is special. Of course, I'm going to rank her music on a different standard than more mature artists. I'm comparing her to the likes of Hannah Montana, Ashley Tisdale, and Jesse McCartney.

No Ordinary Girl - 4/5

Miss Popularity - 5/5

Over It - 3/5

Teenager - 4/5

Outside Looking In - 5/5

We Are Family - 4/5

Waiting For You - 5/5

Jump To The Rhythm - 4/5

My Reality - 5/5

Who Likes Who - 3/5

Later - 3/5

When I Pretend - 5/5

5.0 out of 5 stars amazing July 8, 2007
Format:Audio CD
i ordered this cd not knowing what to expect and i am so glad i did! it is a great mix of sounds. there's miss popularity which every teenage girl can relate to because we all know a "miss popularity" and later which is about rich, snobby guys who every one drools over when in reality, they are only intersted on the outside appearences. my reality is all about all the choices a teen faces every day. all the other songs are great too! i would recomend this cd for girls (not so much guys) from 11 and up to probably 20 or so, but some older women might like it, too. anyone under 11 might like it, but it's more focused on the higher age levels.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good Singer, Okay Album May 7, 2007
Format:Audio CD
Jordan Pruitt is a true singer and I place her in a completley other league then singers like miley cyrus and lindsay lohan. Her singing is great and she is a true musical artist unlike her disney label mates. She had so much going for her to be a huge success. But her album was only okay, many of the songs sounding extremley similar. The album did not chart well, and that is partly due to the decisions that she/her label made. Although "Outside Looking In," was a beautiful/power song to release as a first single, it didnot have much commercial appeal. She could have released a song like "Waiting For You," or "Over It," and I think she probably would have been more succesful. I still think this girl has a lot of talent, and although "No Ordinary Gir," is a decent wholesome album, she can do better.

A Kid's Review
Format:Audio CD
I've been waiting for this cd for quite awhile and she did not disappoint. The songs are fun and catchy. I heard some of them during the High School Musical concert and knew that she'd be good so of course I bought it on its debut weekend. Bravo.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Debut Album For Jordan December 21, 2009
Format:Audio CD
Teenager Jordan Pruitt's debut album is quite good. She certainly has a great voice and the music is wonderful to enjoy. Here's my review on Jordan's debut album:

1.) No Ordinary Girl: Cool upbeat song to start off the album. It's got a great melody and Jordan sounds so wonderful.
2.) Miss Popularity: Cute, catchy pop song about a popular girl. Nice to listen to.
3.) Over It: One of my favorite songs from the album. Jordan sings it with attitude and soul which is so amazing for a girl her age.
4.) Teenager: Upbeat, catchy pop song about being a teenager.
5.) Outside Looking In: Sweet pop ballad with great guitar music.
6.) We Are Family: Jordan's version of this song is amazing and she did a great job remaking it.
7.) Waiting For You: Sweet, slow ballad that shows off Jordan's soulful vocals.
8.) Jump To The Rhythm: Great, upbeat pop song that has a great melody and fun to dance to.
9.) My Reality: Sweet, pop ballad that's nice to listen to.
10.) Who Likes Who: Upbeat catchy pop song that also shows off Jordan's soulful vocals.
11.) Later: Cute pop song with a catchy reggae melody.
12.) When I Pretend: Sweet, soulful pop ballad to end the album.

I recommend this album for anyone who likes Jordan Pruitt or pop music.
