Hutchinson has complimented his scholarly background in the subject by writing a great history. So often the dry, methodical annotations of great research or endless family trees crowd or get in the way of a good story - the stuff that makes a great history come alive. Hutchinson has given us a great history - readable, exciting, and well-documented for a formative county occupied by extraordinary people.

I DISCOVERED A TON OF INFO ABOUT MY RICHMOND COUNTY ANCESTORS (ESPECIALLY CIVIL WAR INFO). WITHOUT IT MY GENEALOGICAL RESEARCH WOULD BE VERY LIMITED

I bought this book from Amazon because I am looking into family genealogy and I know that I have ancestors from Richmond County. I am only about 1/2 way through reading the book but have also used the index to search for specific ancestors. This book is helpful. Truthfully, I cannot recommend this book for pleasure reading but can recommend it as an interesting, detailed history book about Richmond County, it is pretty good. If you have family from the area, I definately recommend it.
