This series of books just gets better. My daughter (age 15) made me pre-order this book because she had to have it the minute it came out. The cast of characters in this book is the same as the previous and just as hilarious. Steve the sock puppet (who wanted a paper route in the previous book) is still full of hilarious sayings as he accompanies his family on new adventures. This book is great for all ages, from 5-95. We have read it aloud around the kitchen table and laughed until we hurt! I highly recommend this book for all households, all ages, boys and girls alike.

My 11 year old loves these books. We were introduced to these by finding the first book at the reading program at our library. She chose it as her prize. I think she has read it more than 10 times since. Each time the new book comes out she gets excited, and buys it with her birthday money. She did like this one, but she and my other daughters agreed it just was not as good and the first or second. It still is good, in that it wraps up the story.

It is nice to look at the title of a book and immediately know this is the last book in the series! I love the humor, totally LOL. I also like the action and adventure. I had wondered how the plot was going to be pulled off but I thought it had a great ending.

The last book in the hilarious Dr. Soup adventure series is a superb read. Anyone, of any age will laugh out loud (repeatedly!) throughout this story. No Other Story is full of adventure and interspersed with bits of hilarious advice from Dr. Soup himself. Looking for a unique gift? This book it is a perfect pick for 9-12 year olds who are looking for a book series that is unlike any other with a great story and A LOT of laughs! "But that my friends is a whole nother story".

I read this aloud to 4 children, aged 7-13. We all enjoyed it. I judge how well a book is working on my "audience" by how many "please, read one more chapter" requests I receive. By that measure, this book was remarkably successful. We would recommend it to others who have read and enjoyed the first two books in the series.

It baffles me that there are only 7 reviews before me. After reading the first two books aloud to my 9-year-old (who then read them about 20 times herself), I was *thrilled* to give this to her for Christmas and she was just as thrilled to get it. It was definitely the highlight of our Christmas vacation. The suspense is fanastic and the characters are all positive, smart brave people. (Ok, maybe not Gurda the Neanderthal, but she's got a great sense of humor!)

The only "con" is that in this third volume, I found some of the jokes to be wearing a bit thin, but the plot is so fun we were happy to overlook that. The 2nd volume remains my favorite, but my daughter actually liked this one best. The chase scene at the end is fantastic and really fun to read aloud.

As a parent, one of my favorite things about this series is that the author doesn't "dumb down" the book. There are several advanced vocabulary words for even the best readers to learn. As an editor, I was very impressed by the care with which words were chosen for all three books. The descriptions are precise and vivid. The action is packed with energy. Teachers could pick many sections to use as examples of strong writing in the classroom.

The fact that this is not more popular suggests that the author has a crummy marketing team. It is certainly not a reflection of the work. I hope more teachers and librarians jump on the bandwagon and start steering kids to this laugh-out-loud, warm-hearted series.

No Other Story is the third installment of Gerry Swallow's three-book series about a family on the run after inventing a time machine. I couldn't wait to read it after having heartily enjoyed the whacky, whimsical and wickedly inventive first two stories. No Other Story got off on the right foot (or sock puppet), but then too quickly and cleanly tied up all of the strands, almost as if Swallow wanted to be doing something else. In so doing, his fun, intelligent and mostly good smelling characters tended to come off a little too flat or two dimensional. All in all, it was an enjoyable read, but not quite up to the high level of the first two.
