5.0 out of 5 stars Workout Log for Real Workouts, July 2, 2000
This review is from: No Pain No Gain: Training Journal (Spiral-bound)
If you are looking for a work-out log that can take a beating and doesn't have lots of charts, photos and other wasted space, this is it. Geared toward bodybuilders and weight lifters, with little space for cardio or aerobics info. It has a conversion table, anatomy charts and some "goal" pages in the back, but the meat of the book is dedicated to being a work-out log, plain and simple. It's tuff enough to be tossed around without losing it's cover or pages.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good training manual, October 8, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: No Pain No Gain: Training Journal (Spiral-bound)
I used a composition book for recording my workouts prior to buying this training journal, so I don't really have another journal to compare it to. However, I found exactly what I was looking for with this journal: easy to use one page entries for each workout day; record specific weights used for each exercise set; room to write cardio exercises on same workout page; and room for many sets within one exercise group. In fact, there's room for about 15-20 exercises with about 10-15 sets per exercise on each separate workout page. For people who are mostly involved in stair masters, stationary bikes, or other cardio exercises, this is NOT the book for you. Instead, for those of you who mostly lift weights...welcome home.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Journal for Serious Fitness, May 21, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: No Pain No Gain: Training Journal (Spiral-bound)
If you are looking for a no-frills, straight-forward training journal, look no further. Perhaps best suited for more experienced exercisers because of lack of descriptions of exercises or anatomy. GREAT for simply recording the exercises, weights used and reps. Has an area for recording your cardio workouts or making other notes. There is enough room on the pages to to record dietary intake for the day as well. The back pages have spaces to record measurments and other notes. I bought one at the beginning of the year, and am buying my second one now.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect training journal, April 25, 2005

This review is from: No Pain No Gain: Training Journal (Spiral-bound)
This journal doesn't have all the pages you don't need...nutrition information, etc. Just a few motivational photos of body builders in between. It's all journal. I will definitely buy another one when this one is full, which will probably be about a year with a 4 day a week training schedule.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thank you., August 9, 2005

Training journals are great tools to ensure progress by being able to refer to previous weights and reps. The only thing that I don't like about this particular journal is the way the front cover is designed to go over the spiral binding. This design increases the chances of the front cover ripping off because it does not fold back neatly. Overall though, I do like this journal.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the Best, July 2, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: No Pain No Gain: Training Journal (Spiral-bound)
This journal is one of the better training logs out there today. For the price and the amount of pages it contains, it's a terrific value for the serious lifter. Male or females who want to make gains and break thru plateaus will find this log an asset. Though, since I'm almost done with my first copy, a couple peeves are: the spiral binding could be a little stronger, and maybe thicker pages so they don't rip. But who can really complain at the price of 10.95.

4.0 out of 5 stars Serves it's Purpose - extremely well!!!, July 25, 2006
This review is from: No Pain No Gain: Training Journal (Spiral-bound)
This is my second purchase of this particular training journal. It's very "barebones" without all the unneeded bells & whistles (e.g. food charts, nutrition information, etc.) It's a spiral bound notebook that allows you to keep track of poundage/set information. I found it to be very durable...able to withstand being constantly tossed in a gym bag. Definitely well worth the money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Straight-forward No nonsense Record, November 9, 2001

The training log is very straight-forward and does not include all kinds of stuff you don't need. It's not a daily planner. It seems to be holding up pretty well. (I've used about a fourth of the log.) The photos are somewhat inspirational but not overdone. The pages sometimes curl and could probably stand to be a little thicker, however, it returns to its normal shape after the workout.

5.0 out of 5 stars Most awesome workout log, September 8, 2010
This review is from: No Pain No Gain: Training Journal (Spiral-bound)
This is an excellent workout journal. It has a ton of pages (without being bulky, but room for LOTS of workouts). Every page has a lot of blocks for exercises & weight/sets/reps, and these blocks are easily configurable for recording cardio or crossfit style exercises as well. The spiral binding is perfect size to keep a pen in, and I toss this book around at the gym & in/out of my gym bag and it is holding up great, not a single tear yet. My wife wants one for her, and I'll probably stock up on a couple extra while I'm at it!

Great workout log!! Plenty of pages and room for many sets of each exercise. Also space for cardio workouts and personal information (weight, measurements, etc.) in the back of the book.
When I fill up the first one I will be ordering another!
