Listing this song as a one-hit wonder is an insult to this band. This song may be thier biggest hit, but they had one of the biggest all-around albums of the 1990's with Soup, and Nico sold a few copies, too. Look into the Greatest Hits collection if you are curious.....

I sang this to audition for a part in Mayflower Community Theater's production of The Music Man a few years after the release of No Rain. Shannon Hoon, the singer of Blind Melon, died of a drug overdose after I had given up drama as a crazy activity that made me more hyper than anything on stage when characters were running around in madcap disorder. This song was what Bob McNamara lacked as Secretary of Defense when draftees were being sent to Vietnam and the courts thought we had political powers to control what the powers that be do instead of courts and a Constitution. Hey, Bob, would you listen to this?

My wife always loved this song and video. She sings and dances to it whenever it is played.
I think that she identifies with the poor little Bee Girl who finally finds herself..

A quirky, weird song with an even weirder video, but you can't help but like it. It was a one hit wonder, but it's been one of my favorites.
