5.0 out of 5 stars The best Motorhead anthology
Even though it came out in 1984, I'd give this the edge over the 2000 "Best of..." anthology for a greater concentration of hits and more tracks per dollar. This is the best place to start for the curious or newcomers and a nice recap for the committed. Great remastering and booklet.

3.0 out of 5 stars no remorse II
I have to agree with the low star guy. I have this on cassett and it is quite differentin the songs. They are the same titles but some of them are live, To Late To late to name one.If I did not already have this set I would get The Best of Motorhead. It has many more songs or the after Killed by Death area.

5.0 out of 5 stars One Hell of a Collection, July 7, 2011
This review is from: No Remorse (Audio CD)
By the time this album was released, Motorhead had already gone through a major transformation and had two lead/rhythm guitarists added to replace Brian Robertson; in Wurzel and Phil Campbell, and Pete Gill(ex-Saxon) took over the drum slot vacated by Phil "Philthy Animal" Taylor. Bronze Records decided to put out a "best of" collection that featured the classic Motorhead Lineup of "Fast" Eddie Clarke, Lemmy and "Philthy" most prominently but Lem wasn't going to let the record label slip by with just that and not only got involved in the picking of tracks, but also managed to get 4 new numbers by the current incarnation of the group onto the record.

No Remorse is a phenomenal introduction to Motorhead and I think it features most of their classic material in the forms of Ace of Spades, Bomber, Metropolis, We Are the Roadcrew, No Class and Stay Clean, to name a few. Fast Eddie's tenure in the band although brief, compared to Phil Campbell,(whom remains Motorhead's guitarist to this day)does provide the blueprint for everything that Lemmy and co. would do within the future. The Sanctuary remaster is interesting in the offering of 5 more bonus tracks that expand on the orginal and have 2 tracks done with Plasmatics' singer Wendy O. Williams, namely No Class and the Tammy Wynette song Stand By Your Man(??!!) Its rumoured that Eddie had actually decided to leave the band because of Lemmy's choice to include this as Motorhead's next single but certainly there were other factors involved hence Clarke's next project with Pete Way in Fastway being the main impetus behind this factor. Nevertheless, the 4 new tracks in Snaggletooth, Steal Your Face, Locomotive and Killed by Death illustrate that Motorhead had not lost any speed or power to their sound but had merely enhanced it.

For anyone meaning to check out Motorhead for an overview, I highly recommend this release(preferably the Santuary remaster) above all and anything else. 5 major stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars get it, October 5, 2006
This review is from: No Remorse (Audio CD)
This is where I started with Motorhead. I still consider it essential, despite owning "Stone Deaf Forever". Pure "Motor-Music".

5.0 out of 5 stars FREAKIN AWESOME!, September 29, 2006
This review is from: No Remorse (Audio CD)
This is the best Motorhead compliation out there. It contains all the classics and very little filler. Unfortunately, Motorhead has released some great songs since ("I Don't Believe a Word", Deaf Forever", "Devils", Living In the Past", Orgasmatron", Love Me Forever") so those gems will not be found here. That said, this is the starting point for any Motorhead or heavy metal fan.

5.0 out of 5 stars good stuff, April 19, 2003

This review is from: No Remorse (Audio CD)
No Remorse collects all of Motorheads most awesome songs, brings in some solid new ones, and ends up being an exemplary introduction to the band. Actually, this may even be worth it for diehard fans, as it's a quality overview - up until 1984 that is.
Going through song by song would [be difficult], so here's the very best: Ace of Spades, Motorhead, Iron Fist, Overkill, Please Don't Touch, Emergency, Steal Your Face, No Class, and We are The Road Crew. What makes these songs so good is definitely not variety, considering most of the songs are variations of others. What it comes down to is energy, humor - and something most bands of that era forgot about: good guitar, drumming, and bass. All that packaged into 2 cds makes this the best (and only?) introduction to Lemmy and the gang. Oh yeah, those last 2 songs with Wendy O Williams[are weak]! ...

4.0 out of 5 stars Only if you are looking for lost tracks, March 30, 2005
This review is from: No Remorse (Audio CD)
I bought this as my first Motorhead album. It was a flashback to when I was 14 and metal ruled the world. However, even then Motorhead was never quite as accepted as more 'main-stream' metal bands, like Iron Maiden and Judas Priest. Still, Motorhead tended to rock harder, as if to say,"You're more popular, but we're still going to kick your tails!"

On to the album: If you have the 'Best Of' collection, there's not much need for this one. All the big hits found here are there, plus Best Of features even more. NO REMORSE is only necessary if you're looking for some neat tracks not found elsewhere.

It's fun to hear Wendy O. Williams join the boys on a cover of No Class and a rousing version of 'Stand By Your Man'. And Snaggletooth is a bonifide rocker. However, the rest of the stuff is found on Best Of, and with better production.

So, if you're a die-hard rounding out your collection, go for this one. IF you're a newbie looking for a good place to get started, go for the Best Of compilation.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best of the best band in the world!, March 25, 2002
This review is from: No Remorse (Audio CD)
Motorhead IS rock n roll in all it's fire breathing, stomping, and over the top glory. All the songs that made these guys legends are here; 'Ace of Spades', 'We are the Roadcrew', 'Bomber', 'Iron Fist', etc. etc.

Also for the first time we have the late Wendy O WIlliams and Lemmy redoing the country single 'Stand by your Man' in a way only they could. They turned it into a heavy metal love song dripping with lust and sex.

Lemmy and the boys (too many to count) are the basic roots of hard rock and metal. If you claim to be a headbanger and have no Motorhead, you are full of poop. If you are totally ignorant of Motorhead and want to be one of Lemmy disciples, pick this up. You can then carry on a conversation with real rockers. Rock on Lemmy.

Before ordering the item at Amazon, I tried to obtain it from my reteiler in Italy. I gave it up after 3 months; with Amazon I've got it within somewhat more than 2 weeks. Absolutely happy, excellent CD, good quality!

4.0 out of 5 stars Band Most Likely to Wear Motorcycle Jackets (Tie w/Ramones), November 21, 2001
By
This review is from: No Remorse (Audio CD)
This album is somehow equivalent to ACDC Back in Black for the following reasons.
1) The cover is black.
2) Back in the day EVERYONE had a copy.
3) It's more than 50% "the hits", so to speak
4) The songs that are in between the hits grow on you.

The lyrical content and singer's voice (Lemmy) are pretty damn weird at first but, trust me, grow on you. You get a hint of the nutty lyric slant by the titles of the songs, i.e. "Killed by Death". NOTHING can give you a hint of the vocalist though. Lemmy sounds like...Lemmy.

Probably a desert island disc (assuming you let me take 50 albums to the desert island).
