A classic album for anyone into hardcore/pop punk,
By Ryan "Ryan" (Philadelphia, PA) - See all my reviews

Even 10 years after its release No Reward is still a classic. Even though BTJ didnt make it big or stay together long enough to reap the rewards of pop punks explosion they still remain one of the best. Rob Vitale has a a voice that no one can compete with. he's probablly the only guy in the hardcore scene who ever had voice training and sings opera. I could go on about this album forever but all i can say it you will be singing along to every single song in no time. My favorite thing about BTJ is that they are about as opposite from Hatebreed as you can get.

Great Album,

This album is great. BTJ stood out among the punk/hc genre at the time by doing it differently than most others, and doing it well. Merska, get your facts straight. This band came from the breakup of Token Entry but was never meant to be another Token Entry. Ernie had been in T.E. and played guitar in BTJ, and Rob (vocals) and Brian (bass) were roadies for T.E. If you are a fan of punk or hardcore and if the music is more important to you than the performers looks, get this album.

I was a huge BTJ fan!! Still am. I had the priveledge seeing them back in the day. I owned this on cassette and finding it on cd was a mission, until I went on Amazon. I advise anyone into punk rock w/killer vocals to pick this bad boy up. You will not be let down.

Good stuff. I saw them back in 1994 open for Sick Of It All. I don't think much of them. Fact was I thought I was Mr Tough guy who wouldn't listen to sappy stuff. As I grew older I have learned to appreciate tunes that come from the heart and kick a some butt as well. BTJ were really good and I was too stupid to notice. Now I have noticed and I am not disappointed. If you have no idea about them BUY THIS! If you do like them still buy this. It's good stuff.

No Reward is Still Great in 2010...,

I just pulled this CD off the shelf to give it a listen and decide if it was Ipod worthy. And damn if this disc doesn't still hold up from song 1 thru 12. I remember back in the early 90s, listening to WSOU, Seton Hall University in New Jersey, All Hard Rock Radio and discovering these guys. As a native NY'er and Yankee fan, any band that has Babe Ruth on the cover is starting off good. Then the combo of the guitars, awesome unique lead Vox, and melodic yet hard edged songs proved that the Black Train boys had crafted a 5 star album. However this CD didn't explode like it should've which is a shame. But anyone gazing at these guys here on Amazon, know that this is a very worthy addition to any RnR lover's music collection. Take care...
P.S - Black Train Jack just reunited for a show at the Stone Pony in late December 2009, with the Bouncing Souls right before the new year / new decade. They were Friggin' Awesome. You know how sometimes you take a step back in time to relive something and you're disappointed and wish you had just left it alone. Well this was the exact opposite of that. They were awesome, the songs still sounded fantastic and it made everyone feel great to relive those good times and still have it sound and feel so good and so natural, totally life affirming. So hopefully these guys stay reunited for more than just that 1 nite stand. But if that was it, well I'm glad I was there to see, hear and experience it. Later people, take care...
