Best recording on a cd I have ever heard!, February 18, 2005
This review is from: No Rules (Audio CD)
The "No Rules" disc was produced by Dana Strum and I can honestly say that I believe this is the best recording I have ever heard. Well, the first Fight disc, "War of Words" may tie as the best recording along with this one. Anyway, there is an incredible amount of depth to this recording. Really rockin 80's style metal, kind of like Slaughter mixed with Slick Toxik and maybe a dose of heavy Ratt. My only complaint is that the vocalist tends to kinda sound like Axel Rose at times. Excellent musicians. Hard to believe that this was their only full length disc. If you missed out on this in the hair days, then get it now.

Great debut album, April 3, 2008
This review is from: No Rules (Audio CD)
1991's No Rules (which was produced by Slaughter's Dana Strum) was the debut album from Kik Tracee, a latecomer to the hair metal scene. The band had an interesting mix of melodic hard rock and sleaze that sounded like a blend of Enuff Znuff and Guns n' Roses (if you can imagine that).
Coming at a time when so many bands were doing their best to sound exactly like Warrant or Poison or Bon Jovi, an album like No Rules really stands out. Sure, it follows a basic hair metal blueprint, and vocalist Stephen Shareaux seems to be doing his best to sound like Axl Rose, but these songs have a lot more character than you might think. Shareaux is like a force of nature, and he brought a unique energy that helped define the band's sound. Overall it's just a fun, quirky rock album that you can't help but enjoy.
The band would go on to release just one more album - the excellent Field Trip EP - before calling it quits shortly after its release. Kik Tracee may not have made a big impression on the music scene, but they're still a band that any hair metal/melodic rock fan would do well to check out, especially since both of their releases are still available for a reasonable price.

My favorite band in 1992, April 20, 2007
This review is from: No Rules (Audio CD)
I first noticed Kik Tracee when their video "No Rules" aired on the MTV show Headbangers Ball in 1991. The song is very catchy and had to get the album.
In the summer of 1992, we were already bored with the on set of the Alternative rock bands that had gone mainstream earlier that year. Nirvana was great but every band that followed just didn't cut it for us.
That summer, we stepped back a year and we played that CD more than any other CD. This band has depth and soul - I believe if they would have formed just a year or two sooner, they would have made it big.
I found my old CD tonight...it's a little scratched up but I listened to it anyways. I still remember EVERY single lyric on ALL the tracks. My favorite tracks are: Lost, RattleSnake Eyes, Romeo Blues and Big Western Sky....ahh...brings back memories.
I wish they'd get back together and go on tour because I never got to see them live.
