My Favorite African Album,
By A Customer
This review is from: No Sant (Audio CD)
I instantly fell in love with this album when I first heard it. It's innovative music that draws from deep African roots music and a fresh variety of World sounds--even bagpipes--for a contemporary pop fusion that is scrumptious and memorable. I have a love affair with African music, and this album is at the top of my very long list.

after seeing/hearing the video for African Dream on LINK satelite music channel i knew i had to have this cd, though the album has more of a programmed rhythm feel to it it is still very very good. especially the 2 tracks with Lena Fiagbe who has a great voice that works really well with Wasis Diops. This is less african than you would think and is a very easy listen. most of these songs will stick in you subconscience for weeks. If you are looking for something a bit more africanwith a twist of flamenco guitar pick up Bidinte's Cd called Kumrua, it makes a nice 1 2 punch with No Sant, Now i have to get Toxu

My introduction to the master, Wasis Diop, was through the movie "Th Thomas Crown Affair" (one of my fav movies!) in which one the soundtracks was by Mr.Diop. Originally from Senegal (Senegalese music is very distinct from sounds of other parts of Africa!), now settled in France, "No Sant" was his first album, "Toxu" being the second. In this album my favorites: Overall, if you are into African/World music, then PICK THIS UP! Worth every dollar spent, you wont go wrong! Enjoy!

This is a very good artistic work. I must have looked in 10 music stores for this on CD-ROM before I got lucky and found one. Although I listen to all types of music, I cannot seem to get this one out of my CD player as I want to hear this again before playing something else. This is one of those works that you can go back to over and over again without getting tired of it. I've written alot of good software while listening to Wasis Diop.

This is a good start for those new to the African scene. No Sant has a great blend of Western and African sounds. Every track unfolds something new! I have already recommended this to several friends. The fast paced beat is sure to please!

Still One of my Favorites,
This review is from: No Sant (Audio CD)
I was introduced to this album in 1999 and spent hours listening to it over and over again while studying. Recently, on a trip to Busch Gardens in Florida, I had the pleasure of hearing it played throughout the park to help set the mood for their Africa experience. I didn't mind the funny looks as a I did my best to sing along. 'No Sant' still gets regular play whenever I listen to music. It does not get old.
