5.0 out of 5 stars Wow!
After reading some of the other reviews about no scream cream, I was not very optimistic. However, I wanted to try it anyway because anything is worth a try to dull the pain of a Hollywood wax! I was pleasently surprised. The cream did not get rid of the pain all together, but it DEFINATELY took the edge off. I would say that it decreased my pain by at least 80%...

1.0 out of 5 stars No Scream Cream useless. Bringing tequila instead.
I bought this product after a painful 1st experience in (attempting) to get a Brazilian wax. (It wound up being more of a quasi-bikini wax because I couldn't take the pain) On my second visit to the spa, I took 2 painkillers and I applied a LOT of No Scream Cream about a good 45 min - 1 hour before hand. (I also seriously thought about downing some tequila, but decided...

Maybe other people were disappointed that it did not get rid of the pain totally. It worked even after the waxer preped the area with alcohol. I totally recommend this product!

4.0 out of 5 stars Ignore the Exaggerations... This Takes the Edge Off., August 27, 2011
This review is from: No Scream Cream 1 oz. (Misc.)
Brazilian waxes pretty much suck - there's no doubt about that. They're not for weenies, regardless of any amount of topical cream or liquor. This is BENZOCAINE: pretty much the strongest topical analgesic you can buy w/out a prescription - it's GOING TO WORK, @ least to some extent.

Here's the thing... The gals reviewing this obviously have a big issue w/the pain of the procedure, or else they wouldn't have purchased the product. It sounds to me like they're disappointed this cream didn't diminish the pain 100%, like another review said. That's no excuse to say anyone who liked it is a liar, erm, "LIER."

It works fine! Apply it 45 min. before. Hell, do it twice if you wish. Seems like it works best if you let it sit before putting on clothes. Whatever isn't absorbed you can wipe off just before the wax, if you're so embarrassed that the lady SEEING YOUR CROTCH is going to make fun of you for using a numbing cream.

Anyway. It definitely takes the edge off. And sorry, ladies, but if you think the wax hurts just the same (or worse [which is absurd]), you either have the most sensitive skin ever (and therefore shouldn't be waxing to begin with) or you simply have no pain tolerance whatsoever. Maybe buy a DIY kit & let a good girlfriend do it while you're drunk or something. I won't condone use of illegal painkillers, but it sounds like that's what some of you need to tolerate a Brazilian.

Good luck w/future waxing, girls. Be strong.

I bought this product after a painful 1st experience in (attempting) to get a Brazilian wax. (I also seriously thought about downing some tequila, but decided against it, since I had no one to drive me home).

I may as well not have ever applied any of the product. The pain was was not diminished in any way, and I was not able to tolerate getting a full Brazilian wax (again). I was so mad that the product didn't work and had there been any goop left in the tube, I would have thrown it away.

Spend your money on a stronger topical anesthetic, especially if you have low pain tolerance.

As for me, on my next visit, I'm taking the tequila with me.

3.0 out of 5 stars Squeamish Cream, June 25, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I bought this because like many ladies I love the look of a good wax job but I DREAD the pain every time I go. So I went on a mad hunt for something that would knock me out. I couldn't find anything legal so I bought this. What blows the most is having to explain to your wax professional that the white stuff on your nether regions is actually a cream meant to numb the area, lest she think that you have a strange infection. The tube tells you the white gunk will disappear after 15-30 minutes but that is not the case YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

After this most important step you lie down and relax thinking everything is gonna be alright ::cue the song:: SH*#!!! , OMFG!!! and other expletives are running through your mind now. At least they were for me. The cream did a rookie attempt at best, which in this arena of pain is like the old diver's saying of missing by a mile.

I'll take the pain full on from now on thank you. Having to explain what the useless white substance I have applied south of the border is not worth its inherent humiliation or the chuckles the staff must have at my expense afterward as the wax girl recounts my futile attempt at avoiding pain.

I did not notice a difference with the "No Scream Cream". I wish they would come up with a "No Humiliation While Getting Waxed Cream". Now that, I would buy!

1.0 out of 5 stars Useless, July 19, 2011
This review is from: No Scream Cream 1 oz. (Misc.)
This stuff certainly does not do what is advertised. Absolutely NO numbing effect after 2 tries. First time I followed the directions exactly. Second time I used double the amount and left it on for 15 minutes extra. Same effect both times. Might work as a great moisturizer but not as a topical numbing cream. Save your $, do not buy!

2.0 out of 5 stars Waste of money, July 17, 2010
This review is from: No Scream Cream 1 oz. (Misc.)
Ok, so i was super skeptical about the product, and i was right. I applied as they asked- about 30-40 min before the wax, a thick layer and the waxing still hurt like hell. I did not see a decrease in pain.. maybe about 20%.. but maybe that decrease is psychological, i may never know. My recommendation? Take 3 shots of tequila before you head in for the dreaded event, and you'll get over it just fine:)

5.0 out of 5 stars Very effective!, February 21, 2012

I was hesitant to buy this product because of the mixed reviews but I decided to give it a shot, I would try anything to numb the pain of waxing! I have to say that I agree with a previous review - there's no way to numb yourself completely, there's always going to be a sting when being waxed but the no scream cream really took the edge off the pain, it really did decrease the sting. I also took a few ibuprofen (at the same time I applied this cream) which made my second wax appointment MUCH, much easier. Again, no way to totally nix the pain but this did a great job of taking the edge off and making a painful experience more endurable. Happy waxing!

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good stuff for my purposes., December 14, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: No Scream Cream 1 oz. (Misc.)
i've been epilating the hair on my face for 5 months, bit by bit, about a dozen hairs per session. the hairs are so strong that each hair will get yanked maybe 5 times before it will actually come out. that's why it's more than ten times as painful as yanking the hairs on my arms (and that's not hyperbole, i mean quite literally more than ten times as painful).
it's impossible to subjectively compare the levels of pain, like, with NSC and without it, but i can say that the difference is significant.
it was still very painful, but after some experimentation i found that if i applied some NSC to the same area of skin every ten minutes for 40 minutes, i was able to clear the entire area of application (over 100 hairs) in one session, so for me this stuff is a very powerful way to vastly improve the amount of epilation that i can do, although i have to use more of it.
i also use Emjoi After Epilation Cream ([...]), which seems to work pretty well.
