Best can I've ever had,

This review is from: No-Spill 1405 2-1/2-Gallon Poly Gas Can (CARB Compliant) (Lawn & Patio)
I've gone through a lot of cans in the last 20 years, and this one is, no question, the best.First note - make absolutely sure you tighten the black collar even more than you've ever had to tighten any other one, because if you don't you'll end up with gas all over like I did. ;) But once it's cranked down, it works wonderfully. No gas comes out at all till you push the button, and then it comes out in a great steady stream, no glub glub surges as it transfers air for gas inside the can. Let go of the button (which is not hard to depress by the way, very smooth action) and gas cuts off, instantly. The plastic of the can is much sturdier and more solid than the others I've had, seems thicker and better made. I'm glad I finally got to throw away my nasty 5 gallon beast I've had for the last few years.

Good Construction, easy to fill & pour, doesn't spill, right size to store gas for lawn mowers or snowblowers.

This is a great product with a great design. It seems like very solid construction and the spout works as advertised. I get no more overfills when I gas up the mower. Probably the last gas container I'll ever purchase.

Expect a 5 year service life....,

I wrote one of the original reviews on this can. I purchased both the 2-1/2 gallon one and the 1-1/4 gallon one in 2005. Both worked as advertised and I gave the can a rating of 5 stars. In the Summer of 2010, I found this one to leak. A small crack had developed in one corner due to repeated expansion and contraction due to temperature chanegs in the outdoor garden shed, where this can was stored. The crack leaked gasoline all over the floor of the shed. The second one developed a similar kind of leak withon a month or two of the first. The original ones had "lifetime" guarantees. I had purchased another 6 months before. I believed that the warranty had been reduced to 3 years. I decided not to contact No-Spill although I know that they would honor the warranty. The first ones had a tendency to leak if the cap was not tightened a certain way. The newer ratcheting cap ones are less likely to destroy the gasket, when tightened due ta "champhered" section in the cap. I have not confirmed it, but I've been told that the flat gaskets have been superceeded by "o" rings. I would recomend this gas can, but expect to replace it every 5 years. I am currently testing Blitz, Scepter, Wedco and Midwest cans in the same garden shed. The Scepter ones appear to be holding up the best. In 2 years, none have leaked. Older plastic gas cans were not vapor tight to 20 psi, so they do not expand and contract as the new CARB approved ones. They vented themselves at low pressure. I've seen them that are over 10 years old. Don't expect the current ones to last that long.

No Spill Gas Can-Great Product,

After reviewing reviews on this product and knowing that Honda is highly recommending it, I purchased 3 different sizes for 3 different applications. After receiving them, I agree that they are probably the best on the market. There are some products that are very good, but require certain sized gas tank openings to work properly, whereas, the no-spill gas cans work on any size opening. It is a pleasure to pour gas without having to unscrew a gas can cap and not spill a drop.

I am very pleased with this gas can. It doesn't leak and fills my lawn mower without spilling gasoline. Of course, you still have to watch the lawn mower tank level to prevent over filling. The nice thing about this gas can is being able to tip the can without gas pouring out before you get to the lawn mower tank.

Thought the other reviews that suggested it leaks were somehow inaccurate so I purchased anyway. Guess what? They were right and the No-Spill DOES spill. It's better than what I had before but that's not saying a whole lot. I mean, how hard is it to put a gasket in that seals? Probably cost an additional nickel.

This thing leaks. I filled it with gas and tightened up the cap as best as I was able. I put it in the back of my car.The next day I got in my car and discovered my entire car smells like gas. Upon closer inspection, the cap leaks gas if you turn it upside down. I tried re-adjusting the cap, hoping it would actually do its job. Later in the day I was driving back home, and the gas smell was REALLY strong. After I got home I looked back there, and the can had completely tipped over, and a huge puddle of gas was all over my carpet. Not only does it leak, its top-heavy and easy to tip over. Considering you can buy a better gas can at walmart for 8 dollars, this thing is a ripoff.

This product is excellent. It has a wide mouth for easy filling and once you do it a time or two, it works very smoothly. But don't expect it to shut off automatically when it reaches full.

I use these to fill lawn machines in my lawn care business and it is easy to use them without spilling. I do not like paying $20 for a gas can but this one has the best nozzle I have been able to find.
