5.0 out of 5 stars MUST HAVE for creative toddlers
I got these paint pots for my granddaughter who is 3 and a VERY prolific painter, in that splash and dash way of toddlers. These pots are terrific. No matter how many times they get tipped over (many times per painting session) they don't spill. Also, the cone shaped opening at the top helps get at least some of the paint off her well filled brush on the way out. And...

2.0 out of 5 stars Loose fitting lids, NOT AIRTIGHT, August 16, 2010

This review is only for the paint cups, not the brushes. I have had these paint cups for several months. You get a lot of paint cups for your money, but the lids don't fit will on the cups. Each cup has top and bottom lid. The bottom lid is the spill proof part while the top lid provides a supposedly air tight seal. These cups are poorly manufactured; the fit of the lids was hit or miss or the 10 cups. Some bottom and top lids fit very snugly, but many were too loose (see my video review). All the lids were paint tight, but most were not water tight, and few were air tight.

For example, my 2 year old dropped a paint cup from about a 10 inch height and the entire lid popped off and paint went every where. So much for spill proof.

Also, after a few weeks the paint (we use Crayola washable tempera paint) became quite thick because the top lids are not air tight.

Pros:
- you get a lot of paint cups for your money

Cons:
- top lids don't fit tightly which means the paint dries out
- poor quality control; some bottom lids are very tight others are rather loose
- not spill proof; bottom lids pop off too easily if cup is knocked over

UPDATE: I purchased the Melissa and Doug paint cups. They are pricier, but solve all the problems I have with these cups. See my video review on the Melissa and Doug paint cup product page. I compare the Melissa and Doug and Chenille Kraft cups side by side.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great paint holders for kids, April 14, 2008

These paint pots work great. Easy enough for a 1-year-old to get a paint brush into and out of without spills. Fits in the paint holders of the Melissa and Doug wooden easel. The lid then flips over to seal the cup and I have kept unused paint in the cups for several days.

There are color-coded brushes and pots that match the colors of the Crayola paint, they are nice and big, and the Crayola paint is thick, so this is perfect for little kids. The brushes wash up easily. The pots are great...they fall on the floor, no spill, no splatter, plus they have the lids to cover as soon as the little one is finished painting. They fit into the shelf on the Little Tikes easel. Since the pots and brushes are color-coded, the child doesn't get the paint mixed together but has a separate brush for each color. Everything washes up easily.

This is a nifty product: fun for kids, wonderfully tidy for mom and dad. The paint won't spill from the pots, and there's a matching brush for each pot, so your kid doesn't have to move a dripping brush from pot to pot.

The brushes are colorful and big and chunky: just right for toddlers' fingers.

4.0 out of 5 stars Painter's Delight, January 18, 2007
This review is from: No-Spill Paint Cups & Brushes Assortment (Toy)
Great Product! I was able to purchase larger bottles of paint and save money. My advise only put a 1/2 inch to 1 inch of paint in each tub. If you fill it with more then that they will spill. I use these with my grandchildren who are all under 4 yrs and they loved them. Clean up was a snap. And painting was more fun for all of us.

But other than that they are good. I like that there are enough paint brushes for the cups and they all match.

5.0 out of 5 stars Paint Pots make painting easy and fun!, September 17, 2008

We received these for my daughter last Christmas and she has been playing with them all year. I love the fact that now when she asks to paint I don't have to think about setting paint out for her, doing clean up, etc. I can just say sure - go ahead!

I usually keep about 1/4 inch of paint in the bottom of each pot and that way if she wants to combine colors it doesn't wreck a huge amount of paint. She has knocked these over on the floor a they don't spill the paint. I can't say enough about these wonderful paint pots and brushes!

So simple, but absolutely perfect. My two toddlers love to paint, but they make a huge mess becaule they inevitably spill at least one paint cup. When I bought these cups for them that problem went away. Now they can paint as much as they want, and all that I have to do is keep the brushes pointed in the right direction.

The paint brushes are certainly not intended for "fine" art. The brushes are very coarse and large. Per the paint cups, two of ours were cracked. It took an hour to get them to come apart from one another. My husband suggests that they were likely packaged while the plastic was still hot from the manufacturing process leading to the locking fit and cracks. Otherwise, they are good paint cups for their intended purpose...no spills. Use one for a water resevoir and paint brush cleaning is minimally messy as well.
