5.0 out of 5 stars One of the classic hardcore 7"s
Inside Out of course features Zack de la Rocha of RATM fame, but don't expect anything like that with this, except that it's heavy and angry. This is an Orange County hardcore band, back in 1990 or so when Zack was in the straight edge scene. It has six songs: the first four are from their 7" and the last two are from their split with No Escape, I believe...

2.0 out of 5 stars Cool for RATM collectors, not that great otherwise
It is cool to have an early CD featuring Zac Del La Rocha of Rage Against The Machine, but the songs on here are just ok. Zach only screams the whole time, so that means no rapping. The music is basic, and does not blow me away either. Anyway, it is cool to have his early CD though.

Inside Out of course features Zack de la Rocha of RATM fame, but don't expect anything like that with this, except that it's heavy and angry. This is an Orange County hardcore band, back in 1990 or so when Zack was in the straight edge scene. It has six songs: the first four are from their 7" and the last two are from their split with No Escape, I believe. Screaming, raging, driving hardcore music, with more believable, personal lyrics than RATM has ever written. The band also featured Vic from the old school band Beyond and later the Krishna band 108 on guitar. If you like this, you should definitely look up those two bands, particularly 108. The sounds of the two bands are very similar.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not the same Zack de la Rocha you're used to...but still awesome nonetheless, April 16, 2006
This review is from: No Spiritual Surrender (Audio CD)
Before Zack de la Rocha conked heads with Tom Morello and created one of the greatest bands of all time, he was the frontman of a small hardcore band in California. They only released one studio record, and EP, and this is it.

This record crackles with intensity, right from the very first track. Zack's voice is not the same smooth rapper you year on RATM's stuff; here he goes all out and screams, yells, and even sings. The band is great is well, with a great guitar player though not quite as amazing as Tom Morello. Be warned though: this may be too intense for people not used to hardcore punk. But for a guy like me, I love it.
If you liked this, check out "Live At The Anthrax", the only other record Inside Out released.

I'm very happy to listen this album...
For me Zack de la Rocha is the best singer and I like his job.
This Zack is very different by the Rager Zack, but he's angry too.

5.0 out of 5 stars ONE OF THE GREATEST ALBUMS OF ALL TIME, March 15, 2004

I grew up listening to this and it has stayed with me forever.
This IS Hardcore. People who don't know what Hardcore is try to figure out if this is metal.... If there were a Hardcore hall of fame this would be one of the first albums and bands put in it. I met Vic, the guitar player, once at a Shelter show in Tampa. I still remember that night and the stage dives as one of the funnest nights I've ever had. If I were to consider getting a tattoo of a band. This would be it. No other band has ever gone down in history off of only one 7" like they did.

5.0 out of 5 stars Different than Rage, but Awesome!, December 17, 1998
This review is from: No Spiritual Surrender (Audio CD)
I expected this CD to sound a lot more like Rage than it does, but it still rules. The lyrics lack the power of Zach's newer writings, but it is still a great album. If you like Rage, buy this to hear a different kind of Zach.

4.0 out of 5 stars not for RATM fans, August 22, 2008
This review is from: No Spiritual Surrender (Audio CD)
As most of you know, this was Zach of Rage Against The Machine's early band which was a member of the HC scene of the late 80's/early 90's out of CA. Not one of my favorite bands of this time/scene, but this release is definetly one that anyone into hardcore should own or at least have knowledge of. As far as anyone looking for RATM, this is the wrong place to look. RATM was a much different band than this musically. HC bands as raw as INSIDE OUT rarely break into the mainstream, (esp at that time). RATM was in every way a more marketable musical endeavor which had goals of mainstream success right from the start (while drawing from earlier influences). Inside Out is just about raw power and energy. If you have no understanding of the HC scene (esp at the time this 7" initially came out) then it is difficult to understand. This was powerful music was very well received by the underground HC audience at the time and still well received by people who enjoy traditional HC today.

If you like fast punk you'll love this. With riffs that are powerful as you might expect, expect it hard, raw, and tight! My fav song is Redemetion, maybe it'll be yours too!

I cannot begin to express how these great bands knowing each other continues to impress me. Imagine looking through RevHQ (Revelation records: TX is the Reason; Quicksand; Youth of Today; Sick of it All; The Movielife), and seeing freaking Zach from RATM IN A HARDCORE BAND! I knew somehow that all this fits together, and trust me, even though Tom Morello isn't hear this record shreds. I LOVE IT! Rage is great; but if this band went on you'd have a heavy Tool with Zach's voice.
