5.0 out of 5 stars A great book--a story of courage and hope
My son-in-law gave me a copy of this book and I could not put it down. Mr Jordon's message is one that we could all use and learn from. What a journey this man has had--from a brush with the civil rights movement as a child, service in Vietnam, White House chief-of staff, and later, three battles with cancer.

I wish I could convey how much this book touched me...

3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing
Based on the other reviews, and my own respect for Ham Jordan, I had been expecting a lot from this book. I was, frankly, disappointed. Mr. Jordan has written a mish-mash of a book. His stories of his tenure in Vietnam, his time in the White House, and (most bizarrely) a distant relative's participation in the civil rights struggle have very little to do with his...

Thank you, Mr. Jordan.

5.0 out of 5 stars pleasantly suprised!, April 24, 2000
By A Customer
I am not a very big book person, although I still like to look in to books my friends recommend to me...however, I usually never find them that interesting. After several of my friends had all passed around one advance copy of this book and loved it, they insisted that I start it. Not only was it the first book I have completed in three years (the last was Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil), but it only took me 2 days (a record for me). What further AMAZES me is that myself or no one I know has had cancer problems before, and I previously knew nothing of Jordan's political history, but the book was still engrossing. The author has the ability to write with a simplicity that appeals to ALL readers, no matter what their interests are. PLEASE, GO OUT AND BUY THIS BOOK! I am absolutely SURE you will love it. Thanks!

5.0 out of 5 stars You Won't Be Able to Put This Book Down, April 25, 2000
By A Customer
Being a southerner myself, and also having almost every single male member of my family die of cancer, this book really hit home for me. It is inspirational and full of hope. I think Mr. Jordan's legacy will not be his time in politics, but more importantly it will be his own life story and the war he and his family have waged against cancer. The book is uplifting and entertaining. The political history itself makes the book a fascinating read, but the real story is Mr. Jordan's successful battles with cancer. I am so glad that I had an opportunity to read this book, and I truly believe that it will inspire anyone who picks it up. I guarantee you won't be able to put it down- I couldn't!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Hopeful, Encouraging, Page-Turner, April 19, 2000
By A Customer
A friend recommended Hamilton Jordan's NO SUCH THING AS A BAD DAY and I approached this author's non-fiction account of his life defeating cancer with skepticism. I am excited to report a TUESDAYS WITH MORRIE-esque enlightenment upon reading Mr. Jordan's book. His character, afforded unique opportunities in his famed life, was challenged against all odds; Jordan's spirit triumphs through his novel (and through his life)--giving hope to all who empathize.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect Book For The Beach-Accessible, uplifting and moving, June 3, 2000
By A Customer
I was a bit skeptical about this book because I expected it was just politics...what a surprise! The moving story of one man whose three battles with cancer have shaped his attitude and life in powerful and wonderful ways. Well written, funny at places, touching at others......I did not put it down and read it straight through. Made me feel good to read it and recommend it wihout reservation. It will touch your life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Inspirational Human Spirit, April 18, 2000
By
Hamilton Jordan's No Such Thing As A Bad Day is a must-read for anyone who has battled cancer or knows someone who has been touched by this illness in some capacity. Jordan's ability to thoughtfully reach cancer survivors with compassion and good humor allows the reader to accompany him through his remarkable victory over cancer. Furthermore, his relentless battle is carefully woven through an exciting historical and political narrative. As Jimmy Carter's former chief-of-staff, Jordan's democratic voice and unique vision provide a thoughtful lens through which to examine our nation's growth. From a chance meeting with Martin Luther King Jr to a good-spirited rivalry with a young Bill Clinton, Jordan captures the pulse of a nation with the spirit of a survivor. Finally, No Such Thing As A Bad Day reminds us all of our inner strength and the ability to surmount great odds in the face of adversity. I thank Mr. Jordan for this literary gift. He is a living testament to the power of mind-over-matter and the personification of inspiration.
