Mayer's Real 'Thing', December 29, 2002
This review is from: No Such Thing (Audio CD)
The strumming of the guitar, the infectious lyric, and the perfect vocal. The key parts of one my personal favorite singles of this year, 'No Such Thing'. The tune is the one that got me hooked on John Mayer, who's album,'Room For Squares', has become one of my favorites too. This like all of his songs is incredibily catchy and completely relateable to actual life.
The second track, a cut from 'Room For Squares' called 'My Stupid Mouth', is my favorite song of his, and relates so well to me at times that it's insane. Awesome song.
Now, I have the album, why would I buy this, since the first two songs are on 'RFS'. Well, the next two are exclusive to this single, a pair of live tracks performed at the X-Lounge in Alabama. The first, a searing instrumental track written by Stevie Ray Vaughan called 'Lenny'. It's followed by an excellent Jimi Hendrix penned classic 'The Wind Cries Mary'. The songs are so quality, it's hard to believe they're live recordings. Excellent.
Now then, this just leaves me to get a copy of this songs wonderful follow-up, 'Your Body Is A Wonderland'.

cool stuff, August 24, 2008
i dug no such thing that is what got me interested in John mayer's music in the first place. dig his guitar playing. vocally he is cool.the other two cuts on here are guitar heroes of his. Stevie Ray Vaughan's "Lenny" which John Mayer does is cool and his cover of Jimi Hendrix's the wind crys mary" is cool as well.
