2.0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money, July 25, 2011

This review is from: No Tubes Injector (Sports)
I bought this injector with a Stan's tubeless conversion kit. The conversion kit was superb and the sealant works great. The injector, though, was unnecessary (you just pour the sealant directly into the tire), and didn't work. Stan's sealant has particles in it that help it to seal the tire, and you are supposed to let those settle to the bottom and pour from the bottom of the bottle into the tire. Problem is, that same stuff clogs the tube on the sealant injector, which is thin plastic and easily kinks. I tried several times to get the sealant to go through the tube into the tire, to no avail, and ended up making a lot bigger mess than if I had just followed the instructions in the conversion kit and poured the sealant directly into the tire.

Overall, an interesting idea that doesn't work well in practice.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good for adding sealant without dismounting the tire!, November 10, 2011

I've been using Stan's sealant for years and will never go back to using tubes. The only drawback is that you have to add or replace sealant periodically due to evaporation through the rubber pores and loss due to the occasional puncture. Every 3 months or so with regular MTB riding in SoCal, I have to add sealant and every 6 months or so, remove the "rubber ball" that eventually develops inside the tire. Often, the tire is ready for retirement by then. The Stan's sealant injector is really handy for adding sealant to your tire without the inconvenience of dismounting it. Just be sure to remove the valve core and mix the Stan's thoroughly before drawing it up through the syringe. I will often use the injector for a new tire installation as well. It's easier to get the tire bead around the rim without having to keep the Stan's from spilling out. I then seat the bead using a compressor and add the sealant without a mess.

I would have given this item 5 stars had the tubing not been quite so flimsy. It still seems to works well, but a slightly stiffer tube would have made it flawless.

I've used the tire Slime which is supposed to last the life of the tire, but it makes the tire unrepairable should you need to fix a big hole out on the trail. With the Stan's you can wipe dry the damaged part of the tire and apply a boot patch to get you home.

Happy Trails!

5.0 out of 5 stars Stans No Tubes Injector, January 16, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: No Tubes Injector (Sports)
I have been using Stans No Tubes sealant for about 18 months now and I love the stuff. It has allowed me to ride multiple times a week for 18 months with no flats (once I found the right tires - thin sidewalls get torn easily and no tubes cannot protect against that). I always tell my riding buddies to 'go tubeless' as I help them repair a flat or switch out a tube!

The injector is a very cool product. I live in AZ so i find myself topping up the stans solution in my tires often due to the heat we get. Each time cracking the seal, carefully putting some sealent in with the measuring cup and then hoping that the tire reseals. Well no more! Just let the air out of the tire, pull the valve core and then inject the solution in, puit the core back in and pump back up. No compressor, no mess! Awesome. Make sure you read the instructions, there are some good tips in there to save making a mess (learn from others mistakes I guess!).
