Review

"When I met Bryan Anderson, I knew I was meeting someone exceptional. He put me immediately at ease. Here he was, this triple amputee, with every reason to be pissed off at the world, meeting someone who never wore the uniform. He pulled himself up on the chair, smiled with that shit-eating grin of his, and told me his astounding story.
Bryan is among that rare breed of hero, that takes in all the worst the world can heap on you, and lets it make him stronger, and makes the rest of us want to be better....he will make you think, and he will make you laugh, and you will be better for having read [his book]."
(-James Gandolfini)

Wow! This book should be a must read for schools across the country. Riveting, I couldn't put it down. Bryan Anderson personifies what it is to be a true American. Honor, courage, love of country. His unwavering faith and optimism that helped him to overcome challenges that most of us can never fathom is truly an inspiration. I am humbled by his strength and his selfless integrity. Thank you for your service and thank you for reminding people what it is to be an American. Read this book now and buy copies to give everyone you know at Thanksgiving and Christmas!

I met Bryan very briefly a few years ago at my daughter's wedding to one of Bryan's close friends. I didn't get an opportunity to meet with him but I had heard the story behind his injuries and determined recovery. Watching him dance, smile, laugh and enjoy himself all through the night was enormously heartwarming. Too many people allow life's little bumps to ruin their day, month, year, life; but here was Bryan exhuberantly lifting everybody's spirits in the reception hall. Last night when I found out that he wrote this book I immediately ordered a preview Kindle edition. I poured through the pages and now ordered a hard copy. God bless you Bryan. You are an inspiration. Lester A.

Excellent story about how one man overcame a serious obstacle in his life: a triple amputation from an IED in Iraq.

I'd recommend this book especially for anyone who has had life deal them bad circumstances or challenges. The author has an incredible attitude about life, overcoming problems and driving forward. He is an amazing man.

There is some coarse language - after all, he was a soldier.

Good life lesson learned at a early age, life works for him now, but could he sell the same snake oil to his younger self before the incident? I think not. Glad he made it through, proud of his service, but the callousness of some who have lost their way, who did not have their Mother to lean on left a bitter taste. Son those Vets you dispise you can never know the depths of their scars or demons simply because their life is not yours, be the beacon if that is your calling never dismiss those who do not choose to follow their path leads them elsewhere.

I'm a bit "conflicted" as I write this review. I don't want to come across as some jerk. . . but on the other hand, I don't want to not tell the truth. I know that I'm going to be the first person to give this book fewer than 5-stars.

It goes without saying that Bryan Anderson is an incredible person who has overcome great odds. There is no denying that. He's certainly an inspiration. As least from reading the book, he must be one of the most upbeat people on earth.

Overall, this is a "You Can Do it!!!". . . . "You Can Do It!!!!". . .. . "You Can Do It!!!!" sort of book. I was a bit surprised by that. I'm not exactly sure how old Bryan is, but I doubt he's reached this 30th birthday yet. I've never met someone of such a young age to have so much "self-help" offerings. Perhaps that's where co-author David Mack comes in. I'm not really sure. I kind of doubt it because his body of work is not the "self-help genre". Nonetheless, for me, all the "You Can Do it!!!" is a bit overwhelming.

I'm not sure how many times it's referenced that Bryan Anderson was on the cover of Esquire magazine. . . . . I would guess at least 572. . . but I could be off by a couple. That really rubbed me the wrong way.

I was especially pleased that the book wasn't written on from a "religious perspective".

Another person I greatly admire is Kyle Maynard. He has also written a book, and honestly, Kyle's book goes into too much wrestling for me. . . but. . .it too is worth reading.

One of the most compelling reads ever! What happened to Bryan Anderson, in Iraq, would have put most men down for the count; but he not only rises above his own limitations, he gives the world a step-by-step instruction manual on how each of us can rise above our own.

Turning his life-changing and catastrophic event into a positive outcome - one that not only benefits him, but all those around him at any given moment in time - makes him one of those truly selfless people that we should all try to emulate.

From this one traumatic and life-changing moment, he has gained insight into how we each can benefit from his new-found knowledge and understanding; what it means to not only survive, but to survive well.

His book is not only a 'must' read; but should be brought to the attention of every trauma survivor - so that we each can try to find the truest path to healing.

As a trauma survivor myself, I recognize all those insights (hidden within the pages of Bryan's book) that have taken me decades to find, or reach, within myself. I am proud to say that I am "on the same page" as Bryan Anderson.
