Awesome Aussie, May 12, 2009
Shannon Noll's greatest hits package, "No Turning Back:The Story So Far", is one of the most awesome CDs I've ever listened to. Since coming in second in the first year of "Australian Idol", he has truly marked himself as an icon in the music business who deserves more exposure here in the States and other parts of the world. The songs are a blend of pop and rock that really demonstrate the meaning of unique, radio-friendly material. Three of the best tracks are "Shine", "What About Me", and "Loud". The new song "Summertime", a cover originally recorded by "Canadian Idol" 2007 winner Brian Melo, is great too. Being an American, I wonder why Shannon has never actually tried to release any material here. He really should do that someday. But in the meantime, I strongly recommend this knockout CD to anyone who loves Australian music. Shannon is a sensation, and anyone who watches "Idol" should check his stuff out and see why he's such a phenomenon in his native country. Also be sure to watch for his upcoming fourth studio album due out later this year.
