5.0 out of 5 stars Simply Burrell
Kim Burrell uses the same signature style from her previous studio albums and places her magical touch on these tracks (some new and some old, but definitely with a new twist)
I am a fan, but an honest one-If your looking for a live experience to burst out of the CD, then, expect something a bit different but just as GREAT. It's a studio CD, as you can probably...

2.0 out of 5 stars Not good at all!
I am a fan of Kim, but I am not a fanatic. This was not even the type of quality production I was expecting after all these years. Then I have to look back at the live album and how bad the background singers sounded and the fact that it was not re-done in the studio. The lyrical content here is not even as substantial Kim's past works. The songs are mediocre I am shocked...

I am a fan, but an honest one-If your looking for a live experience to burst out of the CD, then, expect something a bit different but just as GREAT. It's a studio CD, as you can probably tell by the samples heard above or by descriptions you've read- HOWEVER- I think this album is definitely for those who love the genius of Kim Burrell's music and for those in love with her voice.
It's worth the listen and it's a positive encouraging album. A wonderful job done, and looking for more in the not too distant future.

4.0 out of 5 stars FINALLY!! AFTER 9YRS! worth the wait???, April 24, 2009
This review is from: No Ways Tired (Audio CD)
I'm a huge Kim Burrell fan; and I love the new Album. She has created the Jazz/Gospel Standard and displays her harmonious prowess on such tracks as I Surrender All, and Just as I Am. I would have liked to see something more original on this album. Although, her spin on some well known hymns are refreshing. She did leave me wanting some feet stomping music, as there really isn't anything. This album is very mellow, but Beautiful! It is worth the wait, however.. left me wanting. I Love You Kim!!

I am enjoying this cd. Very nice listening, vocals are outstanding. I particularly loved the fun Intro and "Yes to your Will". I look forward to even more greatness from this talented singer/Evangelist/extraordinaire!!!!!! Get the cd, if you love jazz/gospel, worship, and anointed-skillful vocals, you won't be disappointed.

Kim Burrell is always exceptional and this project doesn't fail to deliver just that....Exceptional worship, exceptional praise, exceptional vocals. Another heavy rotation cd in classic Kim Burrell form. Kim gives you nothing less than what you expect from her...Dynamic vocal range, superb song writing, and nothing short of a moving worship experience.

5.0 out of 5 stars It doesn't get much better than this..., April 22, 2010

Like many folks, I was introduced to Kim Burrell when she paid tribute to Whitney Houston in February '10 on the BET Honors. It's so hard to really categorize a voice that's as unique as Burrell's. She evokes the R&B fervor or Chaka Khan, the soul of Aretha and the jazziness of Ella, but she's able to create a sound that's fresh and enticing.

Oftentimes, with gospel music, it sounds the same. With many contemporary gospel artists, there's an imaginary box that the artist has to stay inside of. When these artist stretch a little beyond, it can be interpreted in many different ways - mostly negative. It may be seen as the artist trying to make their sound more secular, more mainstream, etc. The great thing is with Burrell is that she is branching out of the realm of traditional gospel music - she covers the Gershwin standard, "Someone To Watch Over Me." While you know she's clearly singing this song in gospel form, it's not hard to wonder how it would sound if she were to make an album of pop and jazz standards. I'm going to stay tuned for that...

With talent as good as this, it really doesn't get much better. She has the type of voice that would sound good in any genre of music. While there's definitely something so inspirational and God-connecting in her style, I wouldn't want to see Burrell limited to gospel. This is a voice that the whole world needs to hear. It would be great if the world could start with this album because it's top-notch. Again, it really doesn't get much better than this here when it comes to a dynamic voice. I'm pleased to hear that she's "No Ways Tired," because I want a lot more.

4.0 out of 5 stars This is CLASSIC Kim!!!, December 14, 2009

I'm not sure if some of the people, who claim to not like this project & I are listening to this CD. If God has done ANYTHING of significance in your life, it's hard to NOT allow ANY gospel song to minister to your spirit, whether it be Kim singing it or Macy Gray. I cannot get enuff of THE WHOLE CD. Yes, some of the songs are short, which will only lead you yearning for more, however, before the wonderful advances in technology or YOUTUBE, this is the Kim I fell in love with. This project, for me, was so reminiscent of Kim's Try Me Again CD, which catapulted her into her own genre- Gospel Jazz. Once you embrace the notion that this is not a LIVE PROJECT and open your heart, mind & soul to the gift God has birthed in/through Kim, that's when your spirit will be blessed beyond compare. Simply stated, like McDonalds, "I'M LOVIN IT!!!"
