About the Artist

Steve Smith has been leading worship and writing songs since 1977. His songs have been sung in local churches for many years, even though it wasn’t until 1997 that he made his first recording, entitled Instrument of Worship. His song You are Exalted, was recorded by Robert Gay (featured worship leader on the Integrity’s Hosanna! Music project, “Victor’s Crown”) in the early 1990s and has been sung in churches throughout the U.S. and in other parts of the world, as well.

Steve’s songs are birthed out of a deep desire to write music that facilitates the body of Christ in offering praise and worship to the Lord. His work is characterized by songs that are musically interesting, while remaining playable by the typical local church praise band, and singable by the typical church congregation. Many of his lyrics reflect an inspiration that comes directly from Scripture.

I have enjoyed listening to this music. I especially like the title cut; the instrumentation on the intro to "No god is as great as our God" is awesome. "Drawing Near" has good message for today's church and is very singable for congregations. This album is worth your while if you like praise and worship music, or if you lead worship and need new material.

I was fortunate enough to be at the recording for No God Is As Great As Our God and was blessed by the refreshing presence of God. The quality of music is top-notch with an interesting blend of instrumentals and voices. I find it to be a great group of songs with which to worship the Lord.
