5.0 out of 5 stars A fascinating, informative, seminal, benchmark work.
Alan Symons' Nobel Laureates 1901-2000 is a complete guide to the Nobel prizewinners of the 20th Century. Included are 667 biographies and photographs covering all six Nobel Classifications (Literature, Chemistry, Physics, Medicine/Physiology, Economics, Peace) and present the perfect, single-volume desk reference for school and community library reference...

3.0 out of 5 stars Good Information, Poorly Edited
This reference has a wealth of information and is well indexed. However, the book is very poorly edited. There are numerous misspelled words and punctuation errors. In addition, I found that some information is missing. For example, Howard Temin, 1975 Prize for Physiology/Medicine, passed away in 1994. This reference has a wealth of information and is well indexed. However, the book is very poorly edited. There are numerous misspelled words and punctuation errors. In addition, I found that some information is missing. For example, Howard Temin, 1975 Prize for Physiology/Medicine, passed away in 1994. I would have appreciated knowing the ethnicity of all the winners rather than just those of Jewish descent. All in all, the book is quite good as a reference tool. It's just too bad it wasn't put together more carefully. FYI, check out the Nobel e-Museum at www.nobel.se.

Included are 667 biographies and photographs covering all six Nobel Classifications (Literature, Chemistry, Physics, Medicine/Physiology, Economics, Peace) and present the perfect, single-volume desk reference for school and community library reference collections. Three indexes for the Laureates arrange the entries by alphabetical order, country of birth, and award category classification. Nobel Laureates 1901-2000 is enhanced further with a detailed commentary on the life and times of Alfred Noble: how the Laureates are chosen and the rewards they receive; and why the Nobel Prize is regarded as the most prestigious prize in the world. A truly fascinating, informative, seminal, benchmark work.
