Book Description

The hero business is harder than it looks...

The Jason Cosmo fantasy adventure series continues as newly anointed hero Jason Cosmo vows to end slavery in Caratha, greatest city of the Eleven Kingdoms. To stop him, the slave traders plot to seize ultimate power -- and kill Jason in the bargain. Meanwhile, a giant bear roams the streets, eating anyone it can. A massive natural disaster looms. The world's deadliest (and most expensive) assassin is on the loose. And an ancient evil is rising again. To win the day, Jason must overcome homicidal monkeys, murderous priests, and a revenge-minded band of brothers who blame him for a crime he didn't commit. Then his real problems begin...

A light-hearted, affectionate parody of heroic fantasy. Featuring the eponymous good-hearted, square-jawed, surprisingly well-educated peasant farmer and his new friend the genre-savvy, crazy-prepared, ninja master wizard Mercury vs. the Dark Magic Society, its Evil Overlord, and all the bounty hunters on Arden.

Who should read this book? Anyone who likes beautiful and intelligent women, evil empires, magical death-rays, teleportation booths, dragons, and being chased through the Incredibly Dark Forest by flesh-eating ogres. Let me rephrase that: anyone who likes reading about someone ELSE being chased through the Incredibly Dark Forest Forest by flesh-eating ogres.

There was an earlier version of this novel simply entitled "Jason Cosmo," published several years ago. This book is a reboot of that story, with some revisions that improving the pacing and some changes to the Rubis and Sapphira to make them more three-dimensional and sympathetic.
