A good study of LaSalle,
By Michael McKeough (Glenside, Pennsylvania, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Noble Free (Paperback)
I bought this book because I am interested in the early history of the United States. This book, a creative historical non-fiction, is based on the explorer LaSalle and his journey's while trying to find an easy passage to the Mississippi River. It is based on the time period of the 1680's and offers a great insight into the Native American view of the European settlers and the troubles and opportunities they bring. The author is very descriptive of the clothing, weapons, and lifestyle that relates to this time period, and that gives the book a very vivid pictorial imagery. With that imagery and very good character development, this book makes for a quick, fun and easy read. If you have any interest in learning more about LaSalle or early America in the Illinois or Great Lakes region, I highly reccommend this book.
