Gillian Leigh has come to London to stay with her family. At five and twenty she has no intentions of having a season, and really no plans on marrying. But because her younger cousin, Charlotte, is being introduced into her first season, Gillian finds herself embarking on just that. Who would have ever guessed that at her first ball, even after the `unfortunate incident', she'd meet Lord Adonis? Lord Wessex, Noble Britton, has decided it is time for him to find a wife for himself, and a mother for his son. He's come to London with a plan, and very exacting requirements for his wife to be. After the scandal he's still living down that occurred with his first wife, he wants a woman who will be quiet, unassuming, biddable, and will not draw attention to herself. But when Noble sees Gillian, he's immediately drawn to her by her refreshing attitude, and the fact that she is so open and honest. As Noble begins to court Gillian, he quickly finds out that `unfortunate incidents' follow his potential bride around--why, a simple carriage ride turns into a great adventure where you may risk your life! But he finds himself drawn to her in a way that he can't escape... Kudos, Katie MacAlistar! This is probably the most humorous, moving regency I've ever laid my hands on. Every page was filled with hilarious scenes, to the point I found tears rolling down my eyes-yet she continually pulled at my heartstrings with the slights Noble receives, and how Gillian is quickly at his defense. It was wonderful seeing these two find their way to love!! Ms. MacAlistar weaves the story with wonderful secondary characters I just can't wait to read about, and a plot to uncover to boot!!

I have been reading Romance Books for over 30 years and every once in awhile you come across a real gem. This was one for me. The "blurb' on the back was accurate( finally) ,Romanctic Times should have given more of a review, even tho some of the delicious events might have been revealed. I agree the Strawberry scene was good , but the carriage events, the Earl's staff, everything was a true delight. I read another book at the same time , just to make this one last a little bit longer. Yes. I've already reread it and will probably do it again before it goes in the KEEPER pile--Am looking forward to many more by this author--GO Katie--Thanks for a great read--M.J.

After reading the other reviews which so aptly describe this hilarious book by this new author, I predict she definitely has a very bright future. Good Lord, all I could think of while reading book was that it could be the most hilarious comedy of errors since "Tootsie"! I have NEVER laughed so much since I read Lynsay Sands - "The Deed". Noble Britton, aka, Lord of Lips, Loins, Kisses, etc. fell in love at first sight with the oh so tall, oh so ACCIDENT prone, and oh so delightful half-American, Gillian Leigh. Nothing shy and retiring about this lady! You see, she definitely has this 'problem' with speaking EXACTLY what pops into her mind - no holds barred. For Gillian, the attraction was definitely mutual, when she first spotted him, her Lord of Magnificence. The author has such a way with dialog that is just so precious you can just picture all of these scenes. I could not put this book down and read it in 5 hours - less if I didn't have to pick myself up from the floor so often from laughing. Definitely put this book on your list to buy - read and enjoy - then wait anxiously for the next offering from this delightful new author!

very amusing Regency rom,
This review is from: Noble Intentions (Mass Market Paperback)
Five years ago Noble Britton's wife mysteriously died. Unable to resist putting a scandalous label to events without supporting facts, the Ton "logically" concludes that Noble was involved in the death. Dubbed the "Black Earl" by his peers, Noble rusticated for the last few years, but now seeks a new wife, one who is mousy and behaves with proper decorum.Gillian Leigh does not want a coming out, but though too old at twenty-five, too American by a half, too tall by a head or more, and too accident prone she has no choice. So why does Noble want to meet and marry this amazon paragon who literally sets the Ton on fire if he seeks an unobtrusive spouse? Love works in mysterious ways. NOBLE INTENTIONS is a very amusing Regency romance that will delight sub-genre fans especially since Noble lives up to his name as he is the victim of Gillian's pratfalls. The lead couple is a delightful pairing whose story line remains true to its basic slapstick like theme. Fans who enjoy a jocular look at the foibles of the Ton will want to read Katie MacAlister's humorous tale - just keep ice packs and bandages handy in case one falls while laughing. Harriet Klausner

A true comic delight!,
This review is from: Noble Intentions (Mass Market Paperback)
First, a disclaimer. I'm not a fan of the romance genre. Never have been. Never thought I would be. Yet this book alone could make me a convert.MacAlister's regency romance follows the escapades of Gillian Leigh, a clumsy and over-exuberant young woman who finds herself unexpectedly marrying a man with a dark reputation. Noble is brooding and abrupt and wishes to marry for convenience. Gillian, however, is anything but convenient. Huge chunks of the book are laugh-out-loud hilarious. Others, especially those in which Gillian reaches out to Noble's emotionally scarred young son, Nick, are truly moving. And then there are the book's naughty bits. Whew! They left me tingly! Especially the scene with all the strawberries and . . . well, I'd better not reveal too much. If all romances were this good and this well-written--not to mention this funny--I'd be reading little else. I highly recommend the book. But then, you could probably tell that, couldn't you?

Not Your Average Regency Romance,
By
This review is from: Noble Intentions (Mass Market Paperback)
I love Katie Macalister's humor. Whether she's writing contemporaries or historicals you can bet they won't feature faint hearted simpering heroines and empty headed alpha males. Oh to be sure she's got the alpha males, but they aren't one dimensional and they all seem to appreciate the complex women they fall in love with.In Noble Intentions, Noble Britton is looking for the opposite of his first wife, a sweet biddable woman who will have his heirs and stay in the country while he cats around the capitol. But when he meets Gillian Leigh, a woman who simply blurts out whatever she's thinking, a woman who is accident prone and at 25, considered off the shelf all of those wishes go out the window because Gillian doesn't care that her husband wants her in the country. What follows is hilarious. As always, her characters are wonderfully quirky and interesting. The triplet Tremayne brothers who are constantly brawling, the pirate butler with the hook, Gillian's cousin Charlotte, the union of mistresses - all serve to remove this book from the usual circle of regency romances and make it stand apart. Gillian, though accident prone and lacking in an ability to obey her husband blindly (a good quality), is a great heroine. She's no blushing virgin and she's a match for Noble, who despite his arrogance, is human and his appreciation for Gillian never wavers. This book is absent the misunderstandings that cause estrangement that are so often typical in these books. A moderately interesting mystery surrounding the murder of Noble's first wife threads the love story together. If you like to laugh and you enjoy female characters who are real women who are strong, I think Noble Intentions is a book for you.

I LOVED this book and can hardly wait for my mother to read it so we can talk about it. This was my first book by Katie Macalister but it won't be my last. I've already ordered her other books. It's such a wonderful feeling to 'discover' a new author and have such a great experience.I thoroughly enjoyed the original characters and the uproarious humor. I laughed until I cried and my sides hurt. The secondary characters were essential to the story and their great eccentricities peopled the book with outrageous life and hilarity. I hope to read more of this wonderful author for years to come.

A clumsy woman with wonderful values!,
By
This review is from: Noble Intentions (Mass Market Paperback)
Ok I very rarely give a book a 10 but this one gets one (Only can give 5 stars though). A fantastic story about a clumsy, tall, accident prone red head who also thinks out load a little to often. This is a wonderful story. Noble thinks he knows what he wants for his son and himself and exactly what type of wife he needs. Boy is he wrong and Gillian proves this. Throughout this book you will come to love her... she sets fire to a Dukes house, dresses up in mens clothes and follows her husband to London after he tells her to stay home. "You go girl" One of the funnies scenes must be when she utters the words "I'm not the one chained naked to my mistresses bed with a broken man part". If you like romances you must read this one!

This review is from: Noble Intentions (Noble Historical Novel) (Kindle Edition)
This was quite possibly the worst romance I've read - and I've read a few. Everything is rushed and make no real sense; the character and situations are supposed to be funny but the writing is so poor that everything is disjointed and really misses the mark. The hero can't help being drawn to to girl after one meeting with no real attempt at making any sort of connection between them; likewise with the heroine - she thinks one thing and then does something else completely with no explanation of why or no effort to develop any sort of logic to her actions. I just can't stress how poorly written this book is. I am appalled that someone actually published this!I have suffered through some bad books but this has got to take the cake. I don't review books but in this case, I've made an exception.
