4.0 out of 5 stars A very nice running game March 29, 2013
Good game for The Free App of The Day, 30 Mar 2013

Wi-Fi turned off. Rotation always locked. Brightness turned up. Music turned Down or off, but sound left on.
If you enjoy steampunk or platform games you will like Grudger.
Graphics are very good on the Nexus....but music can get annoying, so I prefer not to have it on at all.

-Swipe to act; never have to slip on a pseudo-button
-Collect aluminum bars to unlock survival run mode
-Master 45 levels
-Find hidden easter eggs
-Ragdoll death scenes
-Swarm based Scores and Achievements

This is a normal running game that you have got to leap over or under obstacles, whilst getting the Aluminum bars, and stop yourself before smashing into the wall and killing yourself.
Its quite challenging, but I am enjoying playing this.....love the little man, he's so cute.

Considering Grudger has only just been realised 27th February, I believe the developer has done quite well. This games is half price in the Google Playstore and its selling at £1.32....so download this whilst its Free today in Amazon

**It is worth watching the intro video before playing as there are no instructions within this game at all**

4.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable, despite a little controls annoyance March 30, 2013
Verified Purchase
A runner game using swipe controls to run right, left, duck down, and jump (or double jump), the game focuses on you running and jumping to pick up packages, then deliver the packages to a handler. In a way, the game play is similar to what's happening in Little Big Planet, with swipe/touch integration. There is a nice touch of obstacles to run around, and stairways to jump up and down.

The graphics are done well, the character and the backgrounds both look nice in 3D. The only problem I have is that the controls could still use a little improvement, running right/then left/then having to jump is a chore at times, and gets annoying having to try it more than once. With that said, the game is still enjoyable, and the levels go from easy to more difficult, as they should, and are varied.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pass/Fail Sideways Scroller March 30, 2013
Verified Purchase
The anti-hero protagonist - a Steampunk Parkour runner - is tasked with delivering a suspicious package to a man. There is no timer, no life, no save, and no scores in the mission-based levels; if you've ever played "Hitman", then you know that any single mistake and you are starting the level over. And while you can pause, you cannot stop your character from running dangerously right from the start of each level. I only played Temple Run a few times, but if you were to put Temple Run in a sideways scroller, then you'd get an idea of how this game operates.

Along the way, try to collect up to three silver bars (there are three in each level). If you collect enough silver bars in the levels, you will unlock the Survival mode, but you don't have to do all of them in the first section. Survival Mode is where the scores come in, and there is an internet scoreboard (which I prevented from loading). There seems to be two sections, each with 15 levels, which means that the game is a bit short. At least it only measures from 18MB as a download.

Also, don't even think about skipping levels. Just as you must finish each level successfully without error, you also must finish each level before going on to the next level. Same goes for each section - you must finish all levels in one section before moving on to the next section.

The controls work very well, with only a little inconsistency, on my Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1. Keep in mind that multi-touch interferes with the game, so keep those stray fingers and other body parts away from the screen.

The music is okay, and the sound effects a tad annoying and creepy. I think I'd like to have my own music in the background on this one.

The 3-D graphics are pretty good.

I had to look up what steampunk means, and my opening heading was the most succinct definition I could find. I'm a bit new to the steampunk concept, but I think it is a great idea.

If you are not a fan of running/jumping games, then obviously this game is not for you. If you mess up, this game shows no mercy and makes you go back to the very beginning of the level. Sometimes I don't have the patience for starting over again.

Moves result from "swiping" rather than "tapping a button." This takes a bit of getting used to.

The protagonist is cute, and you really feel for him when he dies and you hear his bones crush. Graphics are smooth and seamless (memory space usage is 17.1 MB). Music is just fine for me; there is an option to turn it off.

Overall, the game is just "ok" for me. This game format has been done to death, so new games of this genre really need to shine to stand out. This game is repetitive and that can drive me nuts at times. Needing to start at very beginning of level after dying adds to this repetitive aspect. The good graphics and smooth play of the game redeem it, so I feel fair giving it four stars.

Pros:
-Very nice and beautiful graphics
-Kind of a running game, but very unique
-Fun controls
-The best soundtrack in any game I have ever played on Amazon, even better than Cut the Rope and World of Goo
Cons:
-Very Hard, got stuck on level 7 and this is probably the thirtieth time I am trying it
-Controls aren't sensitive enough
