5.0 out of 5 stars Lynne Connolly doesn't disappoint!, October 13, 2006
This review is from: Noblesse Oblige (Paperback)
The story, the characters, the writing all make the book a "can't-put-downer" but what impressed me was the presentation -- lots of "white space" making it a pleasure to read and comfortable reading.

3.0 out of 5 stars So So, March 5, 2009
This review is from: Noblesse Oblige (Paperback)
So many books give a wallpaper history that I have to give any author that creates a vivid world of realistic manners, actions, and speaking, with extra credit. I enjoyed feeling like I was reading about people from the past. For me I read historcals for the history. So when an author actualy makes it seem like the people could have come from that time, well I'm happy.

So while I enjoyed the aspect of historcal detail and manner, I really can;t say I spent much time invested in plot or romance. I wanted to care about this couple, but I can't ever care if I don't see the couple fall in love. After maybe two meetings and a lot of walks our hero is in love with our heroine and heroine with hero. There are some class issues and a murderer to overcome, but after the first half the hero and heroine are married and I was left wondering why? Why did he fall instantly in love, why did she return it? I always hate when this question pops up and for me it's a sign that the book isn't the best it could be. Ultimatly I lost respect for the h/H because they became so instantly devoted to each other and that was that, but I had nothing to base that love on, and I ulitmatly didn't care about the mystery. Maybe had the hero been more then a love sick puppy and the heroine more consistant I'd have thought differently.

Still the book was well writen.
