Shafer's 'Cheese' has bite!,
By Paul Boland (San Pedro, CA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Nobody Moved Your Cheese! (Paperback)
I just finished reading Ross Shafer's book "Nobody moved your cheese" on my flight to Alaska and I have already recommended it to several people on the plane. I am going to tell all of my friends, co-workers and even strangers, that they must read this book. It is the best Self Help/non-Self Help book you will ever read. Shafer takes on the so-called self helpers, with great wit and insight. It is a very enjoyable read!!! Now, you must excuse me. I have to go figure out my 'Plan B'. (When you read the book you will know what I mean.)

Funny, insightful, and motivational,
By Tom Dreesen (Studio City, Calif.) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Nobody Moved Your Cheese! (Paperback)
I know Ross Shafer is a very intelligent comedian who writes thought provoking, topical, and hysterical material...and then takes it to the stage and performs as well as any comedian in the business today. Why am I not surprised that he would write a book that's not only funny and insightful; but motivational. If you feel that life knocks you on your butt every now and then, read 'Nobody Moved Your Cheese' and I promise you (like the lyrics in one of Frank Sinatra's) songs - You'll pick yourself and get back in the race.

"BURGER" Loves the "CHEESE",
By Michael Burger (Beverly Hills) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Nobody Moved Your Cheese! (Paperback)
Every once in a while someone not only says what your thinking.. they have the inspiration and talent to put it in a book. In Ross Schafer's new book "Nobody Moved Your Cheese" the author not only points out the flaws in today's quick fix media soothsayers but goes one better. Every one of the well written 32 chapters, closes with a brilliant "It's All About You" fix. In this short paragraph, Shafer backs up his accusations with a solution and a resolve to the very complaint he illustrates. Anyone can slam... but clarifying and then offering a solution, puts this book on a shelf all it's own. It also shows the skill of the writer and the intelligence of the work. At 200 pages you wish Shafer could have found more paper and knocked out a Harry Potter version. It was all over too soon. Do I smell "sequel?" On a personal note, I've known Ross for many years. Not only did I not know he was such a talented writer, I quite frankly didn't know he could read. I kid....This is funny well written, informative tome, written by a funny, talented and well liked artist. If you don't love this book, I will personally call Ross and have him send you your money back. At the very least you can have my free copy.

Turn Down The Radio,
By jim s (Pasadena,CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Nobody Moved Your Cheese! (Paperback)
The other day I saw Cher on television giving self-help advice. I personally never trusted Cher or any Doctor who doesn't use a last name. My advice is to turn down the radio and take 33 minutes to read "Nobody Moved The Cheese." You will never have to listen to those first name doctors or entertainers again.

It's About Time - Expert Advice for the Rest of Us,
By Doug (Pasco, WA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Nobody Moved Your Cheese! (Paperback)
I assume there are at least some, maybe many people like me who have been subjected over the years to "expert" advice on how to be successful and personally satisfied, and we've had enough. When a friend gave me a copy of "Nobody Moved Your Cheese", I almost left it untouched because I didn't want to waste my time with more boring, gratuitous suggestions from a stranger on how to run my life. But, I flipped through it one day, started reading, and was struck by an impression of, "Wow! It's about time". Finally, someone has decided to announce that the emperor has no clothes. That is, the experts are full of bologna and can't tell me how to be happy. I have to take that responsibility myself.Ross Shafer explains in a straightforward, humorous, and entertaining way how we can have the courage to quit with the expert advice and take charge of our own lives. To repeat myself, it's about time! Thank you Mr. Shafer!

After reading Ron Shafer's "Nobody Moved Your Cheese" I thought he would be a great guest on my radio show. He was! Ron's wit and charm shine through in this book! His insights are crisp and provide motivation without the fluff we are all unwillingly subjected to.

What everyone is thinking but afraid to say,
By Patricia B. Casey (Washington, DC United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Nobody Moved Your Cheese! (Paperback)
Ross's book is absolutely hilarious. I sent it to several of my friends because I knew they would love it too...AND they did...there are so many self help silly books out there and ross's book is a spoof on all of it...but the best part is he is on target and right...its an easy read and a GREAT gift!! The men I know all loved it and agreed 100% with his thoughts and comic way of presenting what we do all really think about some of the other books out there!!!

I was going through the bookcase at home a few nights ago organizing things, making them look acceptable for Holiday visitors who just may come by when I came across Ross' book "Nobody Moved Your Cheese." Since I had been working hard cleaning things up for a good 10 minutes, I decided I needed a break and sat and started re-reading his book.
It took me back in time to when I bought the book several years back. I believe I read the whole book then, but so much seemed new this time through it. Yes, it could have been the furniture polish or just the amount of dust going to my brain, but I don't think so. Like Ross and countless millions of others, I too had bought many of the self-improvement books written by the "experts" he mentions. Like Ross and countless millions of others (minus a few perhaps), a lot of the expert advice in those books didn't work for me either (at least not on a grand scale). As others here have pointed out, Ross gets it. He understands and passes that understanding to those who read it. It is up to each of us as to what works for us, what doesn't work so well. We are the ones who know ourselves best (or at least we are supposed to). "Nobody Moved Your Cheese" is quite funny, quite inspirational, quite important, and quite worth the cost. It will pick you up, inspire you, make you see things differently than how you may have seen things before (ala differently).

Finally, someone who speaks my language!,
By David Feldman (Los Angeles, California) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Nobody Moved Your Cheese! (Paperback)
I've seen Ross on countless television shows and always found him to be a brilliant comedian. With his new book he helps unlock the secrets of coming across to other people. After reading it I am now more prone to trust my own instincts than listen to some quack on the radio tell me how to live.Ross gets it. The economy stinks right now, but this book shows how when things get tight it can be a real opportunity. Buy it! |
