Dr. Denney's memoir is a joyful, exciting, absorbing book that poignantly and sometimes humorously discloses his passion for discovering and applying the spiritual component in healing. He appeals to his reader to celebrate with him the pursuit of the transcendent functions of the human mind to heal; and toward that,an integration of all the healing arts, the traditional and the alternative. He draws from quantum physics, the theories of emergence and complexity, and Jungian concepts as well as his very sound higher education in medical science and mathematics. Yet he presents these in terms that every reader can understand. To read "Nobody's Boy" is to accompany the author on his sometimes lonely journey to authenticity, self-identity and the miraculous. It is also to understand that he is a diligent seeker of Truth in a world that believes that science and logic have already nicely defined that concept. Above all, as in it his wife points out, it is a story of a capacity for love known only to those who indeed have magnificient obsessions.

Dr. Denney gifts us with his touching memoir of a boy's life and his inner pull to follow psyche's call as he imbues medicine with soul. Bravo!

This book is wonderfully written and incredibly thought provoking. It took me just a few hours to read, but I continue to feel its impact many days later. He is an engaging writer with a great story to tell, and tells it with great humility. Yet the underlying hope and wisdom come across with intelligent wit and charm. I am buying this book for a number of friends...those graduating from college or high school, those having difficulties with school, those who are looking for "what's next" in their lives, and for those in the medical professions.

As much as I enjoyed this book for his personal story, it is an important commentary on our medical system and provides brilliant insights into how it can and should be improved. Both medical professionals and consumers will benefit from his insights.

We all deserve to have a doctor like this fighting for changes in our medical system.
