Product Description

The Struggle To Become Shogun. Enter a world most people have never heard of - 16th century Japan. The Shogun has just fallen, leaving the government weak and ineffective. The country's greatest warlords, the daimyos, have taken up arms against each other. Alliances and friendships are quickly forgotten as each daimyo pursues the same goal: to rule the entire nation - to become Shogun. Nobunaga's Ambition puts you in the middle of Japan's bloodiest civil war. As a daimyo you start with one fief and try to take the entire nation. In times of peace, keep your peasants happy and your soldiers loyal or risk revolt. Make friends with other daimyos by sending messengers. Make enemies by sending ninjas. On the battlefield, attack, retreat, or go directly after the enemy general. Seize every advantage you can - you'll need it. Don't expect victory to come easily. The road to Shogun is difficult. Nobunaga himself only came close, and failed. He paid the price for failure - Death.

5.0 out of 5 stars Favorite game as kid, January 5, 2011
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Nobunaga's Ambition (Video Game)
This was my favorite game as a kid, right along with tetris. Very intellectually simulating, and seemed realistic and culturally illuminating at the time. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars awesome game for nintendo..., November 1, 2008
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Nobunaga's Ambition (Video Game)
If you like strategy in all forms, then you'll agree this is one of the best games (if not the best) that came out for the regular nintendo system. The year is 1500ad or so, and you are the leader of a Japanese province and its up to you to control all aspects of that province (economic, military, peasant life, morale) in order to increase your kingdom and conquer all other provinces. As well, you can hire ninja's to 'assist' you in various capacities, i.e. assasinating other leaders, burning down towns, or spreading false rumors to cause revolt. Further the game can be played by 4 people at the same time which is great fun until you assasinate the guy sitting next to you :P. A classic game, this one is.
