  • Designed for pressure demanding applications such as heatsinks & radiators, the Focused Flow frame features 11 stator guide vanes tht straighten, channel & focus the airflow.
  • The NF-F12?s stator guide vanes are set out in Varying Angular Distance and feature Vortex-Control Notches.
  • Custom designed for the new Focused Flow frame and to work in tandem with the eleven stator guide vanes, the NF-F12?s seven blade Heptaperf impeller has been carefully optimised to achieve a perfect balance between power and quietness.
  • Integrated Anti-Vibration Pads. Integrated Anti-Vibration Pads made from extra-soft silicone minimise the transmission of minute vibrations while maintaining full compatibility with all standard mounting systems and fan clips used on heatsinks.
  • The NF-F12 is the first fan to feature the further optimised second generation of Noctua?s renowned, time-tested SSO bearing. With SSO2, the rear magnet is placed closer to the axis to provide even better stabilisation, precision and durability.
  • Low-Noise Adaptor. The NF-F12 is supplied with a Low-Noise Adaptor (L.N.A.) that reduces the maximum fan speed from 1500 to 1200rpm. The L.N.A can be used either to run the fan at a fixed speed of 1200rpm or to cap the maximum speed when using automatic PWM control.
  • Size: 120x120x25 mm. Connector: 4-pin PWM. Bearing: SSO2. Blade Geometry: Heptaperf. Frame Technology Focused Flow. Rotational Speed (+/- 10%): 1500 RPM. Rotational Speed with L.N.A. Great fan, Very smooth, Very quiet.
GGobblin
I would definitely recommend these to anyone that needs a quiet to high performance ratio in a radiator fan, and has the money to spend.
Chris F
These fans are very quiet and move a good amount of air.

The NF-F12 is maybe slightly louder than the NF-P12 at similar rpm, which is to say anything other than the airflow is inaudible under 1k. I haven't experienced the whining referred to in a previous review, but I don't doubt it. I've seen that issue referred to by others, but all I can say is that my NF-F12 does not produce any such noise, other than possibly a low harmonic sound at 1300+ rpm when my head is literally inside my case. However, that could be my head rubbing up against it. Maybe I got lucky. Maybe I'm going deaf. Amazon has a pretty good return policy, so it's your call, buddy. Running solo on either my Venomous-X or H80, the F12 idles at about 500rpm and hits 950rpm during load testing. After letting it run free with a wide pwm profile, I saw diminishing returns higher than 1k rpm. I think few heat sinks/rads can take advantage of the airflow the F12 produces at high speeds.

Which brings me to this: The F12 is for pushing air through a restrictive medium with minimal noise. Not that it's bad as a case fan, but it's just not necessary considering the cost. An exception would be for front intake placement on "silent" cases that have restrictive intakes; here I can see the F12 being a benefit, especially since it has such tightly directed, long throw of air.

For rads/heatsinks, note I said "pushing." Look at the design: it's that way for a reason. If you have this as a puller, don't be surprised when it doesn't outperform other high end fans. When pushing, it will, at least it outperforms my other fans. That includes beating out the GT-AP15; in both cooling and acoustics the F12 surpassed my GT hands-down. This is not the results of a pro-test, so ymmv, of course.

I have a few radiators on my computer and these fans are amazing for the amount of static pressure they create. However, just like other reviewers warned, if you order from Platinum Micro, Inc., they will send you the wrong fans.

I bought two of these to replace my stock Corsair H100 fans (because they were too loud) based on this review...
[...]
...not really expecting to get the results they saw but to at least cut down on the sound a little in my case. Upon receiving them and putting them in, the sound level went from "Are you running a server in here?" to "Is the computer on?" I have a 200mm low rpm airflow fan in my case and it makes more noise than both of these fans running at full speed.

But of course I needed to check my temps. So I ran a torture test on my CPU (i7 3930k) and the temps I saw astonished me. The system idles at a lower temperature than with the stock fans, and the average load temperature maximums were within a degree of the test I had run with the stock fans. And the Noctura fans accomplished that while spinning at only 1500 rpm compared to the stock fans' 2500 rpm.

These fans are well worth the money if you need a powerful radiator fan that's dead quiet. These fans really are as good as you can get.

PROS:
-Inaudible
-Powerful
-6-year manufacturer warranty

CONS:
-None that I've found so far

I replaced my 2 Corsair SP120 on my h100i with 2 of these NFF12 fans to run a pull setup and the performance of these fans is truly amazing for the sound they produce. If you really are looking for the best of the best in case and radiator fans than Noctua is where the ball stop rolling, they make the best fans in the industry. As much as people also hate on the color of these fans, I personally like the color. It just shows me that the company is not going to compromise anywhere, not only in quality but they keep the brown to keep their awesome fans recognized. I am proud to say all of the fans in my Fractal Define R4 are Noctua, 2 intake 140mm fans, 1 exhaust 140mm and the two NFF12's exhausting out of the top pulling air through my rad.

After installation and an overnight stress test I also noticed the Noctua fans keep the cpu cooler than the SP120's did, about 4c cooler which is impressive.

Keep in mind theses are NOT silent fans and at 1400rpm they definitely can produce a good amount of sound. Overall though for the amount of air they push compared to other fans in the same Static pressure class these are much quieter. Thank you Noctua, I will stick with your products for years to come.

For their purpose, they're the best on the market-no question. They are silent and create very good static pressure for moving air in restricted environments. For radiators there's just no better solution. They have excellent ISO rubber mounts and come with a full set of pwm extension and "ULN" (ultra low noise) adapters and a PWM splitter. All the cables are sleeved black. You can literally FEEL the quality just holding them in your hands. They're heavy, durable, and very easy to clean thanks to the type of materials they use.

If I had one gripe, it would be the color-tan and brown is not very typical. Mine are hidden so luckily it doesn't matter.

I build high end PCs. My latest without going into detail has two 130 watt server CPU's. The cooling options are fairly limited. I purchased two Noctua heatsinks which are also awesome, with the exception of not coming with a PWM fan. When I saw Noctua had introduced a PWM with a concentrated flow pattern I jumped on it. Even under heavy load the fans are whisper quiet. Also got a super deal through Amazon, very happy indeed.
