I used Noctua 120 mm fans to replace the existing Antec Tri-cool fans in a three-year-old system. I am completely satisfied with the Noctua fan performance -- the airflow has improved, case temperature has dropped a few degrees, and the system is a bit more quiet. One caution -- the blades are somewhat delicate so do NOT push on them when installing these fans. I cracked a blade during the installation; fortunately, I purchased more fans than I needed so it wasn't a huge problem. Also, I found that it is much easier to install the fans with screws rather than struggle with the rubber mounts -- they supposedly dampen fan vibration but, IMHO, they do not provide a secure installation.

The fan comes with some rather nice features, including converter cables, the cable itself is much longer than your usual fan cable meaning fan controllers with the headers on the controller itself should reach from the exhaust.

The fan's magic "quiet" everyone talks about is indeed the quietest fan I've ever had, however I wish it was actually capable of pumping the air a little louder, I can hear the HDD over everything quite clearly with only the soft whoosh of the fan operating at capacity via SpeedFan.

The cable is covered, but the header is not, I did not use the included rubber screws, however they appear troublesome to actually get into the system without some dainty work, they don't exactly exhibit any idea of sturdiness.

I'll say this again however, if you like a nice strong "whoosh" sound to your fans, don't look here, these are far too quiet for that, and astonishingly at their low RPM and noise level they're cooling my AVC Hercules radiator block at lower temperatures than the included AVC fan!

As a system builder I recommend this, my "aside" taken into account.

I have a water cooled PC, with 3 case fans. Two were in a push/pull on the radiator and a third fan exhausted out the back. Since I purchased the tower from a friend, the fans were always loud, so much so that I finally got fed up and decided to do something about.

I read a lot of reviews, sites about low noise fans, user experiences etc and I was a little frustrated because there really is no industry standard to follow for the noise rating. (Side note, I sell HVAC equipment and exhaust fans for commercial applications, I'm a mechanical sales engineer and when I saw these fans had serrated blade edges I knew that would help with sound because I've seen it before [...] Ziehl has a fan they market as having "owlet" blades for low noise).

Regardless any highly rated fan was going to cost $12-15 and up, so I decided I'd rather over spend to get the sound I wanted versus trying to save a few bucks and be unhappy with the sound output.

So the fans arrive, I install them with no issues. The only slight issue during installation was the fans they were replacing happened to be slightly wider (still 120mm), so the bolts/nuts I used to remount them had to be trimmed to fit (the bolts that is). Otherwise they provide these rubber isolators that you'd otherwise use a bolt or other ridge mounting method to further help attenuate any potential noise. Note this bolt issue was only because of how the fans were mounted on the radiator, no issue on the case portion to exhaust out. (Side note they also provide what appears to be self tapping screws if you forgo the rubber isolation). They provide plenty of different power connections and even a 3 pin extender to the 3 pin the fan is already wired too.

Fired up my PC and it is damn near silent, I can still hear the fans, but WOW what a difference. Even my wife noticed a huge difference. I'll be using this exact fan in every future PC build from now on.

I used a pair of these to replace the out of the box corsair h80 fans, these are very very quite and seem to be pushing decent amount of air at 1200 rpm. My cpu is maybe a degree or two higher than when running the stock h-80 fans on max with full load on the CPU, also the full load is not using prime95 instead tested against encoding a 2 hour 1080p movie. Great product, will buy more to replace fans on the roof of the case.

I purchased three of the Noctua NF-P12 fans to replace the stock fans in a Cooler Master Cosmos 1000 case. The system is nearly completely silent and case temperatures are excellent. I've had the system in test mode as I wait for the release of Windows 7: Ultimate. Under load it is barely audible The one exception being loading a game, at which point the Radeon 4890 makes its presence known.

Exactly what I was looking for!
I combo'd this 3-PIN fan as a pull along with a NF-F12 PWM (push) on a 3-pin Antec Kuhler H2O 620 water cooler). The case also has 4 NF-R8 80mm PWM's and it is nearly silent. Actually the only fans I hear are on the aging video cards, so I'd have to say these Noctuas are pretty much silent! Temps on my i7-3770k CPU overclocked to 4400MHz average around 21°-25°C across all cores at idle. Max under Prime & Aida hits 68°-72°C.

Great fan, the bearing is the secret of its quietness and quality. I used this as an exhaust fan in a cabinet/desk where my wife wanted to put her computer. Even without using one of the speed adapters in the package this thing was so very quiet. It has a 150,000 hour MTBF so it should run for a long time without problems. Very nice fan even if it is fairly expensive.
