I'm pasting this review from my website but you will have to go to my website in order to see the benchmark results because I cannot put pictures in Amazon reviews. I posted the link in the comments because Amazon doesn't allow URLs in reviews.
Noctua has become one of the most popular companies in the cooling market and they have been constantly releasing top notch products one after another. Noctua has been getting a lot of positive attention for their superb fans and exceptional coolers and the newly released NH-U14S is no exception. The color scheme is the reason why people recognize Noctua products when they see one and it's also the reason why they are unique from different manufactures. Noctua offers a six year warranty on their products and has possibly the best customer service out of all the manufactures that I have seen. They have always sent me replacements for fans and mounting kits free of charge in the past. Noctua sets the perfect example of what a customer service should be like. I have had awful experiences with other companies where I had to pay for shipping to RMA the product and the product still didn't work when it arrived. The Noctua NH-U14S cooler comes with a whopping 6 year warranty and it is a universal CPU cooler which will work on all Intel and AMD sockets.
The Noctua NH-U12S and NH-U14S are the new CPU coolers recently released by Noctua. I recently reviewed the NH-U12S which is a great cooler for compact builds and I will put the link on the bottom of this review in case you guys want to check it out. Today I will review the NH-U14S which is a little bit bigger than its smaller brother. The NH-U12S is a 12cm cooler while the NH-U14S is (you guessed it) 14cm.Read more ›

I bought this air cooler to cool my i7-3770K. Here is what I have to say about it,
Pro * Very well packaged. AMD and Intel mounting bracket are placed in separate boxes. Instruction manual is very through with installation. * Mounting hardware is very firm. Does not feel cheap. * Superb cooling performance for its price. This air cooler can easily match its older brother, NH-D14. Out of all the cooler I have used only Swiftech H220 can beat this cooler by 7 Celsius degree. * Comes with mounting hardware if you want to install a second fan. * Fan is silent even at full speed. Beside the sound of airflow there is no vibration sound at all. * Comes with 6 years warranty, longest I have seen.
Con * This air cooler is very wide. Be advise it can block the first expansion slot (so GPU or long PCIe x1 card needs to be moved). Can be a problem if you are doing SLI/CF or using mATX/Mini ITX board. * This air cooler is also very tall. Some budget cases are incompatible with this air cooler.
Overall score: 5/5
For its price, this is a top notch air cooler.

Upgraded from a Hyper 212 EVO to this model for an overclocked 4770k. Idle temps were about the same, but under heavy load I dropped from ~95c with my old cooler to ~70c with the Noctua using the same benchmarking application. I was hoping for around a -10c change, so obviously I am very happy with the actual -25c change. Installation was quick and straightforward.
Make sure you go on Noctua's website and check motherboard compatibility, as this thing is pretty big and will not work with every build.

Decided to go with air instead of liquid cooling even though I have an i7-4770K overclocked to 4.4Ghz so like all Haswell chips, they run hot anyway. I almost purchased the Noctua NH-D14 but I am glad I didn't. After researching CPU Coolers during the process of picking out parts for my new build, I found that the NH-U14S had great results in comparison to some larger, twin tower heat sink coolers like the NH-D14 or the Dark Rock 3 Pro. This is a very large heat sink itself and weighs 1.7lbs with the fan which I am as of now, only running one 140mm fan on it. At idle, my CPU is stable @ 30C - 31C on average at it's stock speed of 3.5Ghz and 35C at 3.9Ghz. This is after installing a Geforce GTX 770 (also at 31C - 32C idle) and I thought clearance might be an issue but it turns out I have about one inch or so which is more than I actually expected. Mounting this CPU Cooler is VERY simple and the brackets used are well designed, it will NOT move.
I will be putting another 140mm fan on but it is not because the CPU is reaching extremely high temperatures even at 100% load when I was testing it using various stress/blend testing software. It reached a high of 65C @ stock 3.5Ghz and 78C +/- 2C when overclocked to a stable 4.4Ghz with a +0.001V offset. My ambient room temperature is around 21C or 70F just to use as a control.
Basically, this CPU Cooler is worth every penny and rivals it's twice the size big brother NH-D14 and even liquid cooling to a point. I have never liked liquid cooling because even if it is securely hooked up, one mess up and everything is ruined. I looked at the Hyper EVO 212 and am glad I did not purchase it. It simply can not keep up this with cooler at all.Read more ›
