Editorial Reviews

Review

"Real Master of the Sound Mystery . . . His playing constantly moved between poetry and passion". --Roswitha Frey, Badische Zeitung, Germany, May 19, 1999

Product Description

Released independently, the disk is a unique anthology of the Nocturne genre. Alongside well known masterpieces, such as the Nocturne in C-sharp Minor Op. Posth by Chopin, the disk includes rarely performed pieces by Liszt, Faure and Vladigerov, as well as the world's premiere recordings of the nocturnes of the Canadian composers Clermont Pépin and Glen Morley.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nocturnal World - a world of magic, June 20, 2005
This review is from: Nocturnal World: Selected Nocturnes (Audio CD)
The very first notes of Chopin's immensely moving Nocturne in c sharp minor will transport the listener to a dreamworld, which he won't leave until the last chord of Pancho Vladigerov's Nokturno has died away. This is a wonderful collection of "Music of the Night"! The pieces, though stemming from such different time periods, are very carefully chosen to each represent this genre in all its intimacy and beauty, and the two premiere recordings show that not only Romantic composers knew how to create that special mood.
Thanks, Dimiter Terziev, for presenting us with such a gem, never letting go of the magic created with the opening piece! A very sensitive and convincing recording!

This is a wonderful collection of "Music of the Night"! The pieces, though stemming from such different time periods, are very carefully chosen to each represent this genre in all its intimacy and beauty, and the two premiere recordings show that even in times much more sober than the Romantic era composers knew how to create that special mood.

A thoughtful and reverent compilation of this most intimate genre. Dimiter Terziev expresses the sentiment of each nocturne with sheer elegance.
