5.0 out of 5 stars Mana has done it again!, March 24, 2005
This review is from: Nocturnal Opera (Audio CD)
This is an amazing album by Moi dix Mois. Mana has a way of transporting you into his universe through his music. Vizard, with it's use of violins, sounds like what would happen if Rob Zombie and Andrew Lloyd Webber wrote a song together. Vestige is a song that would please both classical fans and metal heads. Mephisto Waltz is absolutely brilliant. One of my favourite songs on the album is Shadows Temple~X, with it's "death vocals" and orchestral music coupled together.
Very few bands/artists can mix classical with rock and have it sound good, but Moi dix Mois has done just that. Juka's vocals are like a cross between Gackt and Klaha. The music sounds similar in some respects to Malice Mizer, but it definately has it's own unique sound as well. I would tell any fan of Malice Mizer who has not heard Moi dix Mois to do so. This album retails in Japan for 3300 Yen.

5.0 out of 5 stars My first forray into Visual Kei...and I love it!, May 5, 2008
This review is from: Nocturnal Opera (Audio CD)
I had been curious about Mana and Moi Dix Mois for awhile after seeing photos of Mana in both the Japanese and English Gothic & Lolita Bibles. After watching a few clips of them in action on YouTube, I picked up Dix Infernal, Nocturnal Opera, and Beyond the Gate. These three albums are my first Visual Kei experiences, and I am absolutely blown away! This music combines many of the elements of my favorite genres of music: Metal, Gothic Rock, and Classical. Each song is a whirlwind dark symphony of crunchy guitars, violins, harpsicord, female soprano vocals, clean masculine vocals, and the occasional death growl. The fun doesn't end there either. The release is packaged beautifully. The artwork in the booklet is just amazing. I highly recommend this album, along with Dix Infernal and Beyond the Gate. Highlights of this disc are Nocturnal Romance, Monophobia, Vizard, Prophet, and Shadows Temple-X. I also recommend La Dix Croix, Tentation, Pessimiste, Gloire Dans Le Silence, and Dialogue Symphonie-X from Dix Infernal and Eternally Beyond, Deux Ex Machina, and Unmoved from Beyond the Gate. This stuff is mandatory for all those who love dark music!

5.0 out of 5 stars I'm not a kid, I just don't have my own Amazon account., February 27, 2007
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Nocturnal Opera (Audio CD)
I would give this a 4.5 if I could, I gave this a five instead of a four since I feel it's closer to a five star album than a four.

I don't know how Mana-sama can create such beauty as he does, but however he does it he shouldn't stop. From Invite to Immortality to silent omen, this is nothing short of a gorgious album. It has three songs there are around fifty seconds long. Usually short songs like those, I'll listen to once and then delete from my computer, but not these, even those songs are nothing short of glorious. I don't see how I've gone this long with out this album, I only wish I had Dix infernal..

This is already one of my favorite albums, and I suspect it will be for a while, if you like j-rock and or Malice Mizer I recommend you get this album ASAP. I doubt I can overstate the beauty of this album. Get it, now! You shall not regret it!
