Nocturnal Vacations is a really good book. Dack Shannon is the meanest good guy out there. This is Noir/Horror with a very dark edge. If you like your action stories with a lot of blood and guts. Pick up a copy of Nocturnal Vacations.Long Live Dack!!!

Steve Shrewsbury's Dack Shannon tales represent some of the best writing on the Internet. The character is carefully thought-out and developed, the situations are clever, and the stories are well-crafted. The stories of Nocturnal Vacations reveal why Steve Shrewsbury is regarded as one of the top on-line horror writers. Keep it up, Steve.

Dark, moving, scary, freaky, all words that describe this super trip through the Majestic universe of Steven L. Shrewsbury. Anyone who hasn't got this one is missing out. From the shadowy albino agent Dack himself, to his firebrand assistant, Brittany, we are treated to a super ride through chilling tales. Mystery, sci-fi, horror and things that go BUMP frolic here.

I really enjoyed this collection of violent mystery tales. I really never read anything quite like it before. It surprised me and let my jaw drop a few times. Good. Looking forward to another story about this character. Dack Shannon is an excellent anti-hero for a new century.

Dack Shannon, violent, creepy, and rash, I love him! He does what the law can't. He kills the bad guys. The stories are damn good and well thought out. It is great escapism. I want to read more!

Dack Rawks!,
By Liza Lawrence (Burbank, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Nocturnal Vacations: A Dack Shannon Anthology (Paperback)
I never thought this book would be this cool. Dack Shannon, albino agent, RAWKS! That sounds silly, but with every story in this collection, another layer of Dack's persona peels back. Cruel, cold, funny and flawed: That's Dack. Oh, he is a killer with twisted morals, but only the bad guys or gals get it. Shrewsbury has created a stable of interesting characters with unusual personalities. From Father Malachi, to Thor, to red hot redhead Brittany, they are very amusing. By the novella at the end, I was used to the characters and engrossed. I am eager to read more about Dack Shannon.

Grim, great, ghostly!,
By Joel Marx (USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Nocturnal Vacations: A Dack Shannon Anthology (Paperback)
Dack Shannon, grim albino warrior from Majestic agency, dammit, he is cool. I found this book a great read and will recommend all my buds get it. Shrewsbury writes in a thudding way, striking at the heart and brain at times. Super cool pulp fiction. This ain't high art, but it never pretends to be."Bliss" is a neat story where Dack takes down some goths. "Destroyer" about a weird Congressman blackmailed by Dack is great, too. My favorite story is "Patterns of Oblivion" because of the mystery elements. I hope to see more of Dack in the future.

Dack Shannon Delivers JUSTICE!,
By Shawn Madison (Suffolk, VA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Nocturnal Vacations: A Dack Shannon Anthology (Paperback)
What can I say, I'm a sucker for dark brooding Albinos wearing black and fighting the forces of evil! I've been a fan of Dack Shannon, that wonderfully flawed character from the mind of Steven L. Shrewsbury, for several years now and I was thrilled to get my hands on a paperback collection of Dack Stories. The way that Shrews mixes so many elements into the Dack Universe is what makes these tales so much fun--you never know what's going to be thrown at Dack next. From aliens to possessive demons, blood-thirsty psychopaths to spiritually evil apparitions, dirty congressman to flawed mad-scientists, Dack deals with them all. Donning his black trenchcoat and signature bullet-proof fedora, Dack does the dirty jobs, cleaning up the world and ridding our streets of the scum...whatever form that scum might take. I thoroughly enjoyed this collection of Tweaked Stories that had originally been published in various zines and I can't wait for the next Dack Shannon novel, COMMON GRAVE, which Shrews mentions in his closing to NOCTURNAL VACATIONS. Keep that Dack coming, Shrews!
