Format: Audio CD
This is an earlier version of the Barenboim Nocturnes on CD from 1990 or earlier. I got my copy around that time. I have always noticed that there is a kind of digital noise that surrounds the music, that is especially audible in quiet passages. It was especially noticeable on my first CD player which had a rather poor 16 bit DAC. Yet I can still hear some of that the noise on a good CD player. I wonder if the noise I am hearing can be attributed to a bad transfer, and if the more recent CD releases have improved upon this one. I may have to buy a newer copy and find out.
