Nodes of Ranvier,
By reassurance dead like falling leaves "Ryan" (California, US) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Nodes of Ranvier (Audio CD)
This is Nodes of Ranvier's second full length album, which compared to the first album (Lost Senses, More Innocense) is blown out of the water. I'm not saying this album sucks, because it's a very good album, but what I'm saying is that the first album was so much better. Lost Senses, More Innocense contained some of the greatest, most intense hardcore vocals I've ever heard, but unfortunately the vocalist in that album is no longer in the band. Nodes of Ranvier is a Christian band, as all Facedown bands, and you can tell that by their lyrics of praise and humility. This album is still extremely awesome and intense, but i would still recomend trying to find Lost Senses, More Innocense first.
xx

It's all about the blues,
By "plushmonkey2" (Sioux Falls, SD) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Nodes of Ranvier (Audio CD)
i saw this band's first concert in a little SD town called Baltic, at a little cafe. it was the most incredible concert i had seen in three years. i got an early recording, which was terrible, and jammed out for hours. then they recorded their first major cd, and it was neck-breaking, with fast transitions, wild guitars, and the "hardcore clap" that began at their first concert. this sophomore release, on facedown records, brings the band into a new era of musical composition, ranging from the hardcore punk influence of the early eighties to the metal influence of bands like living sacrifice and spitfire, along with a tone reminiscent of dillinger escape plan. but my favorite part of all is the blues breakdown in "kyrie"--i've never heard anything like it! of course, knowing the writers and hearing it three months in advance may make me a little biased, but truly, this band is going to press the next generation to come up with something half this thrilling and amazing. buy it. buy it without thought. it's worth every penny.

i actually love this album and more lost senses better than their previous album. don't get me wrong, this band is still good, but when i heard their new one, it didn't really have that sense of uniqueness as this album. so yeah, this album is a defenite plus to buy.
