5.0 out of 5 stars NOGATCO IS THE NEW STANDARD
Every track is an adventure, both in sound and thought. Featuring hidden messages, codes and keys to the mysteries of human existence. A weird scientist travels the earth in search of aliens, both living and perished. Fossils of extraterrestrial vertebrates are a massive find, until the living, breathing creatures are located. Awesome release!

2.0 out of 5 stars WTF?
If you liked "Dr. Octagon", you will probably be pretty disappointed by this album. The beats are wack, the lyrics are complete nonsense, and it definately does no justice to the original masterpiece. I can barely get through the first 10 tracks without hitting "eject" on my cd player. Dont get me wrong, I love Kool Keith; but in my humble opinion, this is one of his...

5.0 out of 5 stars Almost perfect album! Kool Keith does it again., May 2, 2006

My only gripe is that it is too short. but other than that- what a masterpiece. Kool Keith is one of my favorite underground artist- but as of late- his albums have been lacking. not his one. This release more than makes up for it. read the description for album info.....just buy it! Hip Hop the way it is supposed to be. entertaining and fun.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Master is Back!, April 30, 2006

Nogatco Rd. is music for cyborgs, martian hunters, bioengineers, and hip hop lovers. It contains a protected formula that only one mad scientist can deliver and thank goodness he does, it will protect you from the Radiculans when they begin their decent for every earthling's mind.

All kidding aside, a really fabulous album from a hip hop great.

4.0 out of 5 stars YOU CANT HANDLE THE TRUTH!!!...., June 25, 2006

....the truth being that Nogatco Rd. is a modern day hip-hop classic from the master of outer space himself, Kool Keith.

I really love how on this album Kool Keith finally decided to break away from his recent lull in creativity (ie: Lost Masters 2, Clayborne Family(s), etc.) and return to FREAKIN' OUTER SPACE! The result (with great production help from Iz-Real) makes for an interesting, dark, hilarious and unique piece of music. I really think that this album will stand the test of time just as much if not MORE than Octo...yep I said it.

Now, you will ask why then did I rate Nogatco 4 stars instead of 5? Well the honest truth is that not every track is a musical gem... There are like a couple of tracks that are "skippers".... Especially the metal riffed Black 37, though MY opinion of that particular track is biased being that I HATE HEAVY METAL... But the other track in which Iz-Real samples some electric guitar (Big Adventure) is suprizingly pretty tite.

Well enough with me trash talkin...Sorry Keith, I still love ya mang!... The other tracks on this album are fck'n BANGIN!! The levels of eeire production and outerworldly lyrics are balanced like two 800lb women on opposite sides of a sea-saw. In other words this album sounds great, like another reviewer said, it really BUMPS on a nice sound system. I can't get enough of these seamless tracks: Bionic Fuse, Night Flier(force field), CELESTIAL**, Different, and of course LIVE DISSECTION** (w/ Sage Francis and Sole). The verse that Sage Francis spits is sooo sick that I'm gonna have to go buy, yes BUY one of his albums....I think I already have the "Im sick of waiting tables" LP somewhere... Anyways,

My homie Ahmed gave me NOGATCO Rd. (burned) and its sooo good that I'm gonna support Mr. Space Cadet himself and purchase it! BTW: Ive seen part of the videos that come on the enhanced CD and theyre freakin' spooky! haha... Well enough of my blabbering, pick up Nogatco Rd TODAY, you will NOT BE DISSAPOINTED...SERIOUSLY.

PS: This one goes right next to Lost in Space, Doc Oc, and Dr. Dooom in my personal Kool Keith library....don't pass it up... 4 and a half stars outta 5!

4.0 out of 5 stars Movin' Celestial, June 26, 2006

I can't believe he is still at it. Really, Kool Keith has been around the block more than a few times already since his days in the Ultramagnetic MC's. Yet, here we are crazy Nogatco is here for us 2006. FYI Nogatco is Octagon spelled backwards.

There are common themes that Kool Keith likes to work with:

1. Whack MC's
2. Ice Cream and/or Baskin Robbins
3. Black Men as Doctors or professional physicians of some sort
4. Outer Space and/or Ridiculous Sci Fi Themes
5. The Ghetto
6. Abstract Poetry / Mental stream of conciousness style Lyrics
7. Sex

The dominant factor is #4 - Nogatco is a retro SciFi powerhouse tinged with 1950's era sound samples. Best tracks are Night Flyer, Dark Space, Celestial, Different. Join Kool Keith and producer IZ-REAL on their strange undercover intergalatic journeys into the void. All night strange science experiments and crazy off the wall rhymes are constant. Alpha Omega is Kool Keith looking back on his whole career as an artist.

Check it out, very close to 5 stars, not quite. Underground hip hop takes many forms - Kool Keith has many forms. Give Nogatco a listen. Also includes a video of Kool Keith and IZ performing an alien autopsy somewhere in the ghetto.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Nice!, June 5, 2007
This review is from: Nogatco Rd (Audio CD)
It took me a few listens before I felt comfortable with this album but I must say this is probably at the same level as dr. octagon. Maybe not better, more like two steps to the right. I do feel its a little short and the music videos are really low-budget and kinda dumb but if you like keith you should dig them as well. Not his best but I cant think of any other rap album released around this time that i can actually play and listen to, other than project polariod. 5 STARS! Over N Out-

4.0 out of 5 stars Keith's Return to Greatness, November 29, 2006

In the beginning, there was Kool Keith. The musical genius who practically transformed the "urban rap" old-school into a new-school era of hip-hop with the Ultramagnetic MCs. There'd be no KRS-One, Rakim, BDK, Biggie, 2Pac or Eminem without the foundation of Kool Keith's abstract and off-beat rhyme scheme. Perhaps that explains why his music (past, present and future) has always been ahead of its time - and to no one's surprise, Mr. Nogatco is no exception.

Mr. Nogatco is the long awaited "official" sequel to the earth-shattering Dr. Octagon project. In my opinion, nothing will ever top the greatness that was Dr. Octagon, but Mr. Nogatco is superior in its own right. Perhaps the man's best release since Dr. Dooom. Kool Keith in recent years, released some very enigmatic material (after all, he's an enigmatic character). While most of his recent works were criticized by fans (Matthew, Undertakerz, Lost Masters, etc.), I found these works of art highly underrated and underappreciated.

With the arrival of Mr. Nogatco (and Project Polaroid), Kool Keith has reinstated himself as a hip-hop deity once again. The album's instrumentals by Iz-Real (a very hungry producer) are fresh, and match Mr. Nogatco's golden lyrics and titanium flow with perfection. The sound is very out-of-this-world, and today is considered a great album, but in time (like with Dr. Octagon) the album will begin to grow into a classic.

Every track is unique and special in its own right, but if I had to name a handful of the "best of the best" - my list would include Big Adventure, Night Flyer, Bionic Fuse and Different. This album was worth the extensive wait. Project Polaroid was just as good (if not better). This just proves Kool Keith is still capable of putting out high quality music. Perhaps we're entering a dangerous territory of musical excellence from Kool Keith, and perhaps we're not. Either way, I'm content with Mr. Nogatco.

5.0 out of 5 stars Kool Keith is back in classic mode, April 28, 2006
By

This is a classic concept album that plays like the score of a crazy science fiction movie. Mr. Nogatco is sinister, his rhymes and even voice sound totally unique. The beats are intricate and come with many twists and turns including some drum and bass, metal and glitchy electronic touches. Also enjoyed the wild bonus features on the CD-ROM portion. The movie features an alien autopsy and killer robots invading suburbia. Only Kool Keith could deliver this kind of out of the box, classic hip hop entertainment.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nogatco Rd. Review, April 30, 2006
By

Nogatco Rd. is an amazing hip hop concept album. Many try to compare it to the classic Octagon album, that's a curse of any artist who creates a cult classic, their subsequent releases will always be compared. However, in this case, I believe Nogatco Rd. is a great follow up. Will it be a classic? Only time will tell, but it contains spectacular production and the type of rhymes I look for in one of his albums. He rhymes wild tales of alien life and covert operations. There will be many quotables off this one such as, "get a life, take a shower, 800 lb woman sitting behind the computer tower" on the semi-autobiographical Alpha Omega.

Another awesome feature is the bonus movie. What's better than a Kool Keith alien autopsy.

I also dig the guest artists, since Keith doesn't make albums with many known emcees, if any (except maybe MF Doom on Viktor Vaughn 2) talented underground hip hop artists; here he comes with two great cameos, Sole of Anticon and Sage Francis on Live Dissection, which is one of the hottest underground tracks in a while. I also enjoy "Big Adventure" which contains a great live metal guitar riff and a weird buzzing beat and Black 37, his ode to a female sex droid.

The album has solid beat construction, outrageous storylines and plenty of surprises. This will be on rotation for quite a while on my system.
