4.0 out of 5 stars Big thick, beautiful book, July 6, 2002
This review is from: Noise Four: Future Lab, Culture Life, Reality Archive (Hardcover)
... I am still wading through the book it has wonderful artwork but an aweful lot of the pages are poorly shot photo snaps or simplistic illustrations. They are intended to add to the overall design of the book, but I miss words, typography, but also just human sentences that explain the work. Alot of eyecandy but almost a letdown as far as content goes. Still a wonderfull purchase ...

3.0 out of 5 stars mixed feelings, July 2, 2002

Great production, lots to look at. A visual experience thin on substance. If you're into the fine art of design you will enjoy it. Think of it as a coffee table book with little commercial relevance.

4.0 out of 5 stars inspirations for experimentation, December 2, 2002
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Noise Four: Future Lab, Culture Life, Reality Archive (Hardcover)
Experimentation is the word and the work. Usage of vector lines and beautiful photographs in the design creates a visually pleasing, but a cold feel to it as well. The images are intriguing and invites the viewer to look closer. The book is a presentation of cold, minimalist vector illustrations, typogrpahic design, photography, architecture, exhibit design--pretty much feels and seems like mishmash of all kinds of interesting looking, experimentations in design. It is a bit overwhelming to look through everything and I am not sure whether the information in the book is well structured. If you like looking at photos and design work, but are not really concerned about reading into it, you will love this book as a source of inspiration. I like this book, but I think it would be even better if their experimental processes were explained better using text as image. The book does feel too processed and overly edited especially for presenting experimental art work which indicates (intentionally or unintentionally) the experiements are over- calculated and high-risk taking is not involved.
