Be sure to notice sweet little story nearly hidden within,

This was a hand-me-down book we love so much we're going to buy the companion book, Noisy City Day, and check out other books from the publisher and writer too. At first glance it's just an exciting but jarring cacophony of images with vivid descriptions of noisy sounds of the city. Fun for kids especially little boys who love vehicles and movement. Then second or third read you notice in a small corner, oh look, there's a little cat on the street and somebody's getting the cat. Then later the cat is in their car. Then at the end the cat is in the window of their apartment where it has found its forever home. So behind all the noises and images this book is really a small, quiet, simple little story of adopting a homeless cat. I think the experience of reading the book in this way is just like visiting (and truly understanding) the big city itself. Marvelous.

Let's face it - buying books for little ones is really more about what looks good to our sophisticated eye. Kids are much less picky. This gorgeous, gorgeous book is fantastic enough to want to spread open and frame in all its believable, beautifully illustrated glory. Great cadence, big pages that the littles hands can turn themselves and stylish enough for even the most jaded mommy and daddy. A super book for all ages.
